Hey ladies I have recieved my 2nd appointment the end of this month. I'm wondering if anyone could help me I just want to know what happens that day? We haven't started any treatment yet fingers crossed it won't be too long. Thanks Lindsay xx
Second Appointment: Hey ladies I have... - Fertility Network UK
Second Appointment
Hi Lindsay,
Where are you in the process? Have you had all of the initial tests (HSG, AMH etc)? Once I had these tests the appointments for our rounds of IVF mainly consisted of more blood tests, checks on weight and blood pressure plus lots of paper work! They also did a test to check neither of us smoked.
All hospitals/clinics seem to have a slightly different process. Good luck with your round of treatment! x
Hey there Hopeful our most recent appointment was all about our weight height checked to see if we smoked, I haven't had any blood tests took yet..I have had the lap & dye procedure x
Hopefully you won't have long to wait then! Once we got to this stage we started IVF a month or two later but it does all depend on your clinic/hospital! Good luck! I hope you don't have too long to wait X
Thank you I hope not. I hate waiting lol but as I said it will be worth it all. How are you getting on? X
The waiting is the worst and it all seems to be such a mystery!!! We had our round of IVF last summer and now have a lovely little princess who is 5 months old! After the years of ttc to conceive I just couldn't imagine it ever happening for us - but it did - and it fingers crossed it all works out for you! Best of luck x
Hi Lindsay - we had more blood tests taken and a chat about what treatment they were going with. The consultant explained the procedures to us and talked about the paperwork we would receive. This was all 5 months before our treatment started but it was still really exciting, it felt like we were finally getting going! Hope it all goes well x x x
Thanks very much Mommabear, so it's just really blood tests and paperwork mrs? I'm just want the treatment to start now how long roughly does it take?xx
That was the case for us and I was booked in for an internal scan too. We were referred by our GP in June 2015. We had a consultation in November then our Top of the List appointment in March. We started treatment (injections) in April and was all finished mid-June. It all depends on whether you're NHS or private and what the waiting lists are at your hospital. Private is much quicker but for long protocol treatment start to finish was around 6 weeks. I hope that helps x x x
Hi Lindsay89,
As mommabear says my second appointment was also more blood test,, explaining what protocol they thought they were likely to use, I also had an internal scan. I think they also took weight again for me.
This appointment was in June and we are starting our IVF in October (NHS funded).
I have been to the hospital again since June and this was to discuss further about treatment and what it would involve. I was given more forms to sign and my partner had another seamen analysis done. We are back again in September where I will have a dummy embryo transfer and will also be shown how to use injections.
Hope this helps xx
