Those injection questions...

Last night was my first 'go it alone' injection...

Not only was I shaking like a leaf each time I opened a vial I almost injected myself with the big needle in forgetting to change to the small one! :-/

Tonight I'm sure I'll be calmer.

When I was pushing the air out, some of the liquid escaped... Can someone tell me if this is ok? I'm sure I've read it before that it is... But I thought I'd just see what other people's experiences were. :-/

Bloody hell! This is a crazy process eh?! x

Hi emu2016, I found the injections to be a pain as well and was quite shaky at times. I think it's okay to lose a little fluid but not loads which I'm sure didn't happen to you. My second ivf round I didn't let me husband do any injections although he did loads during our first ivf round.

It is a crazy process and I hope it will be worth it for you in the end xx

Thanks Pchin3112. Third injection just out the way and was sooooooo much better. Felt much more in control though still a little shaky. Three down! x

Hey emu2016, it gets easier with practice for sure....you'll be an expert shortly! My plan was to get my other half to do mine to keep him involved but he was too scared to do it in case he hurt me. He eventually tried and it's better doing it myself! I had one or two bruises at the start but they soon fade!

Hi emu2016. Make sure you hold the syringe and needle upright after changing to smaller needle. Tap or flick the syringe so that any air moves to the top near where the needle is attached, then put the plunger slowly to expel excess air if any is there. Try putting an ice cube on the "spot" a few minutes before injecting to numb the area. "Happy needling"!! Good luck! Diane

Thanks Diane. I've definitely got the hang of it a bit more now. Wish I'd realised that I might not be able to cope with my tights digging in my tummy today! :(

Today I bled from my injection! And the needle hurt going in! Is this my body just getting a bit more unhappy with being poked and prodded or me taking less care and attention as I think I get used to it? :-/

Hi emu2016. As "noodlez" says, just probably hit a capillary - very common, so try not to worry, you're doing fine! Diane

Now that there's a new injection in there too... I'm looking for a certificate in injections!

Hi emu2016. Sometimes you can hit a capillary going in. Can be sore and bruise a bit, but it's nothing to worry about 😊
