Unexplained fertility and clomid?
Hi Lucy, I have pcos, I took clomid for 6 months 2 years ago and didn't really get much of a response with it. I'm not sure about unexplained fertility tho :/ it didn't really seem to agree with me either, I had to go to A&E twice while on it with extremely bad pains and loss of blood but everyone is different and they said it was cuz my periods were so irregular that I suffered so much. I have a friend that has lots of health problems including infertility that got pregnant 1st time taking it Hope everything goes well for you xx
O my poor you I'm going to see how the first month goes and if I have a bad reaction then i will stop.
Thank you for replying xxx
Hi Lucyloo81- I have just finished my last cycle chlomid after six months but no luck im afraid. The only real side affects I had was getting hot flushes and my skin seemed to itch loads? But other than that I was fine! I think the chlomid stopped working after three months as my periods weren't on time so I was building my hopes up for nothing! Starting IUI next week though! Hope it all works out for you Hun X
I tried it for 6 months. No side effects at all. It sent my oestrogen very high which was weird cos then during IVF stimulation drugs didn't work. Its worth giving it a go.
I have unexplained infertility. Originally I wasn't ovulating and I took clomid for 9 months over a 12 month period. No pregnancy. I had quite a few side effects like flushes, head aches, quickening heart rate. But nothing that was too awful. Good luck!!
Personally my experience with Clomid wasnt good. I felt low, had mood swings and bad cramps when ovulating. I got dry skin on my face and just felt generally rubbish. However, It did make me ovulate which is what it is meant to do so it gave me more hope every month that I was doing something positive about our infertility! My low mood could have just been to do with other factors in my life at the time, sick mother, heavy workload in my job etc as well as dealing with the pain of not concieving. I didnt get pregnant while using clomid but I would still advise you to give it a try. You are taking control and doing something to help you conceive and who knows, it could very well work for you. Somebody has to create the success statistics, why couldnt that potentially be you!! Good luck xx
Thank you all for replying I will keep you posted xxx
Hi! Lucy, my best friend got pregnant on her first use of clomid after trying for 3 years to get pregnant. However I on the other hand had three cycles of clmoid, the lowest dose. I am still trying, not got pregnant yet. i have 2 more cycles before I stop. The first cycle my period came late and I had lots of cramps. The second month it came a day late and now it back to normal. I believe your body have to adjust to it. I will say definitely give it a go, at least we are trying. Baby dust to you! Hope!
And to you hop36 xx
Hi, I've also been givin clomid for the same reason will be starting them in a matter of days.
I wasn't aware of the mood swings 😁
Hi, I took clomid for 3 months over a year ago, and unfortunately had an allergic reaction- blistered on my face and neck ( this is very rare). I had to stop after 3 months. I was also very moody and short with my husband. It made me ovulate though, and every month I had a blood test to prove it worked. A year later I have just started the alternative drug- tamoxifen. No side affects at all, going for follicle scan next week to see if it's worked. So any problems ask for this drug.x
Hi Lucy I was on Clomid for 6 months and I had unexplained fertility it didn't really help me but I went on to have ivf and I had a baby boy then 8 months later fell pregnant naturally and had another boy so dreams do come true good luck xx
Aw thank you amazing news xxx
It's a long journey my husband and I had been tryin for 12 years I wasn't easy at times. Some days id want to give up and I think it's worse when it's unexplained fertility because if I'd had something wrong I'd have understood why it wasn't happening for us x
12 years yikes 😥 what treatment have you had if you don't mind sharing.xx
No I'm happy to share I had four rounds of iui treatment I injected myself twice a day for 3 months I took pesseries I lost weight I tryed everything and every time it failed I'd cry for days then I was referred for Ivf and it worked first time for us i was 32 when I had my first son x
I have unexplained infertility also. Was out on clouds for 6 months despite the fact I ovulate naturally. The 1 month I was very emotional but as the months went on I noticed my mood swings much less. Didn't work for us I'm afraid which I wasn't expecting it to. Seems to be something they give you on the off chance it will work before you maybe get IVF referral.
Anyway my advice would be don't give up after the 1st month if it doesn't agree with you, it should get better.
