I can’t help about Wigan in particular, but are you moving within the same health authority area?

I really don't know , I was being followed in Northampton Hospital but we are moving to Wigan in a couple of months so not sure what should be my next steps.

Hi pinto8. If you have a look at fertilityfairness.co.uk you will be able to find your "new" NHS area's criteria for treatment and the clinic/hospital that will be treating you. You will of course have to register with a new GP in order to be referred again. Good luck! Diane

Hi Diane thanks for the reply I have been followed in Northampton Hospital but sadly my doctor passed away so now I don't have any doctor because he was the only specialist in the fertility area.

But do I have to be referred again or just senf all my files to the new gp??

Hi pinto8. So sorry for the late reply, only I only work Monday, Wednesday & Friday! Regarding your referral, even though your current specialist sadly died, all your records will just be passed on to the “new” consultant. Your new GP should be able to chase things up for you, alternatively, you could contact Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh Foundation Trust to see who will be treating you and when. Awful for all this to have happened, but I do hope all is soon resolved and you soon get on you way again. Diane

Thanks Diane I really hope so because for me even now I know that I can't start the ivf process because I have to do the surgery first, and being without doctor and going to move area it means more wait

Hi pinto8. I realise what a nightmare all this is for you adding to your anxiety. I do hope that you don't have to wait too long for the surgery - which you do need, to give you a better chance of IVF working. Once that stage is over and recovery is complete you will be in better condition to proceed. Thinking of you. Diane

Pinto, do you fit the criteria for funding in Wigan? If so make sure you register with a GP as soon as you move. Because I think it's nationwide policy that you need to have been registered with a GP and have lived in the area for a year before they will let you have treatment. That's how it is for me, so despite having tried for 10 years we have another 6 months to wait until they will let us have IVF. But hopefully each area has different criteria and you'll be ok.

Hi Cyantist thanks for your reply where were we live we were refused because my hubby as two kids already but I haved seen the criterias and in Wigan I'm entitled to two findings because the kids don't live with us. We've been in the all process for two years now and having done a laparoscopy in October I was due to another surgery in December to clear my tubes but sadly my doctor passed away and for now my case is on hold because they can find any other doctor to come to here so they just booked me for an appointement late July.

It's great you can access two rounds of funding once you move. I think it's only the actual IVF that requires you to have been in the area a year anyway. So if you still need to have the surgery, and that won't be done until July anyway, then you may not even be waiting around for the IVF. Good luck!

Thank you I really hope so, it's been so tiring all this wait and your case I know it's been even longer and I'll be honest with you I don't know if me personally would have the strength to wait such long years so for that I admire you because it must be hard..I really hope that on the end of your 6 months wait you can start your journey and have your baby ..you deserve it. Good luck
