Jargon buster?

Hi everyone I'm new to all this and I'm sure with time I'll start to learn what some of the acronyms mean but please can you help? I understand the following....

TTC - trying to conceive

2WW - 2 weeks wait after egg transfer

PCOS - Polycystic Ovarian syndrome

and that's about it! I've had a look for a jargon buster and couldn't find one so forgive me if there is one already.... but I thought it might be useful to have one for all newbies like me.

If you can, maybe we could get some help with what some of themy mean or anyone unsure that some acronyms mean, could post them here for others to answer? and I'll put it all into a list at the end?

Good luck to everyone, this forum is a total saviour to me. Thanks Xxx

  • It's a nightmare isn't it! I remember when I first joined feeling like people were speaking a completely different language! Sadly, you get to know it.

    Hopefully this helps: m.carefertility.com/care-fe...

    Good luck! x

  • Thanks Hopeful1982 that's a great start xx

  • How about these. ... Any idea what they mean? Thanks xxx

  • Hey Kat9lives

Welcome on board. The jargon takes a bit of getting used too. I'd made all sorts up before I found out what things actually meant, lol.

AMH is the test if hormone to see what your ovarian reserves are.

ARC us an Antral follicle count. I'd basically does what AMH tests do, but they check reserve by looking at the Antral follicles through a scan.

Not too sure about TOM unless it's time of the month, although most us call it AF (Aunt Flow)

Hope that helps. If you find out what TOM is, I'd love to know.

Good Luck with your journey xx

  • Thanks sarahndave. It makes it so much easier to understand when you know what it means! :-) x

  • Hi, there is a pinned post as well called 'what do the abbreviations mean?' I haven't looked at it myself but I assume it explains everything. It should be at the bottom of the page. You'll pick it all up quite quickly anyway! But it is like another language, isn't it.

  • Thanks! Yes it's a minefield but I'm getting there! Hope this helps other newbies too xx
