Does anyone else feel really tearful and incredibly weak after EC? I had mine last Thursday but I still feel rubbish, I am going in to do transfer on Tuesday but am thinking of phoning in sick tomorrow and Tuesday because I feel so lousy. Is this normal?

Really struggling today...
I had my egg collection last Wednesday and have felt really crappy ever since. I've been very bloated and sore in the amdominal area and incredibly tired. I'm sure it wasn't this bad last time so I suppose every person and every cycle is different.
Sorry not much help really but just to say really that I think this is quite normal. You put your body through a lot in the run up to EC and the EC itself is a very invasive procedure so not surprising we feel drained and the hormones will make you feel a bit all over the place emotionally too.
Good luck with everything x
Thank you it does make me feel so much better to know this is normal, because the hospital plays down the procedure so much as being just a quick 15 minute procedure and maybe a days rest, I have been beating myself up that I am being weak!
Were you awake for yours? Mine was under general anaesthetic so I figured I was tired because of that.
I had my embryo transfer on Friday and Then woke up in the night with a sore throat and now have a stinking cold and generally feel terrible Definitely didn't have this last time!
Hope you feel better soon. I would definitely take a couple of days off work to recover as you want to be in the best shape possible for your transfer.
I've actually taken the whole 2ww off work as I'm a fitness instructor/personal trainer and teach classes so I don't want to risk overdoing it.
You're definitely not being weak, your body has been through a lot and hormonally probably doesn't know if it's coming or going!
I was sedated so maybe that does make you feel more tired I just think I was unprepared for how rubbish I feel!
I hope your feeling better soon though lots of rest and fluids feeling ill just adds to the stress doesn't it.
My collections have been under general. My first cycle I felt rubbish for about a week and I was off work and my second cycle I was better, but still took the time off work.
I'd say look after you and if that means taking time off, then be selfish!
Drinking lots of water should help you too x
I would call the clinic you are at, check your symptoms aren't ohss as you may need to go into hospital.
Hi there, I was very very tired after my EC and slept loads. I only took 2 days off but I really should have done more in hindsight. I think after EC everything caught up with me - before I was so busy with all the drugs, appointments, scans etc - and then they put you to sleep and all I could do afterwards was sleep ;). I think it's both physical and emotional exhaustion.
I often find that the clinics play everything a bit down - for a doctor, EC and ET etc are probably fairly minor things to do, but for a normal, healthy person who doesn't usually have to go to hospital they are still quite big things!
Be good with your yourself and your body and rest as much as you can. X
I haven't had my EC yet but my clinic recommends a week off work afterwards and that's just with sedation. It's strange that each clinic give different advice. I'm planning on having the whole week off as I don't want to risk doing too much too soon.
Good luck xx
