Transvaginal scan

Hello, I've had an appointment come through for a transvaginal scan.....my husband has a low count so we are probably looking at icsi ivf. What does the scan entail? Thank you

It's basically an internal scan using a long wand, covered in a condom. You don't need a full bladder, as you do with an external scan - I much prefer this as I find holding a full bladder so painful! They can also see much more with an interval scan.

Hi, it sounds a little intimidating but it is really not. Just relax and it is not uncomfortable at all. I agree it is not as uncomfortable as a normal scan as you empty your bladder before it xxc

Hi Marita, I've had this done too. It was fine and not sore at all (just s but undignified!) They're just checking everything looks 'normal'. They showed me everything on

a screen and took a few measurements (size of my ovaries etc). The nurse said it was all art of building as full a picture as possible. Good luck x
