Gosh please don’t worry! Honestly they are nothing to worry about! I think over the last six years I must have had about 60 or maybe more!? You soon get used to it! x

Oh it’s nothing to fret about, honestly. It’s uncomfortable sure, but not painful and definitely not as bad as when the gyno / nurse shoves a speculum in and opens it for example. With this you just need to breathe in and out and before you know it the wand is in. They put a condom over it usually so it should more or less slide in. The part I find uncomfortable is when they push against your vagina wall towards the ovaries to count the follicles. Not pleasant but definitely something most people can take. And honestly these scans become routine after 2-3 as you get scanned so much throughout your cycles. I hardly ever think about them anymore and they don’t even make it in my top 5 hardest parts about IVF 😆

That said, i do have a friend that finds all gyno visits stressful and because of that they become painful, so she takes valium before she goes. If this is an issue for you, definitely take half a valium to be able to relax, and remember to breathe in and out throughout.

You’ll be fine! Good luck xx

Oh dear. I acknowledge that everyone's pain threshold is different, for me it was mild-moderate discomfort at best. Try to keep your pelvis as relax as possible and take deep breaths, it will hopefully go smooth. And know that the wand of transvaginal scan looks daunting, but it's only the rounded top thats inserted. Good luck!

It's completely understandable to feel anxious when you've read a lot of horror stories about a medical procedure. However, it's essential to remember that people are more likely to share negative experiences rather than positive ones. Many folks have uneventful scans without any issues whatsoever. I've had the procedure countless times myself, and while it can be uncomfortable, it's definitely manageable. Remember to take deep breaths before the scan, and you'll do just fine. You've got this! do you mean the scan of your ovaries lining etc? That is done transvagivally? If so it’s literally not painful one bit for me at all! Sometimes a little discomfort if they need to wiggle around a bit to count things but that is mostly near the end of stims when everything is a little uncomfortable 🥴 but not actually going in or most of the scan honestly I must have had these scans 100 times and honestly they are absolutely fine! The just use a dildo shaped wand camera thing (it’s thin not too big) and put lots of lube on, the more you relax the less you even feel it. They also ask you to empty your bladder first too so that helps them see and also less chance of discomfort there. Please please please don’t worry about this whatsoever! People who experience pain in these types of scans are exception rather than the norm and there is things they can do if you do have any muscle tension down there. Defo not one of the sore bits of treatment whatsoever xx

As the others have said, it’s fine! I find one side more uncomfortable then other but it's not more uncomfortable or painful than the Dr giving you a good poke in the stomach while they're giving you a check up! It's weird and nobody is choosing to have them but ultimately, it's just another scan in the grand scheme of things.

Honestly I’ve had 100’s of these over the years with the highest grade of Endometriosis and ivf treatment.

Just tell them it’s your first time and just RELAX on the bed.

The more relaxed you are the easier everything will be and your body just allows the probe to do its thing.

You’ve got this ❤️
