Just had a call to say my embryos are thawing nicely and have been given my time to go tomorrow for my transfer. I was initially told that I would be having two embryos put back but The embryologist seems to think I should only have one as the risk of twin pregnancy will be higher for my age. I was hoping I would have two put back obviously because it's more chance, can I insist on two? I don't think they should of told me two and then change it to one the day before! X

One or two embryos
Good Luck Hun, I too would prefer to have two put back even with the risk of twins.. How old are you if you do not mind me asking? Does a twin pregnancy cause more problems? Good luck with your transfer
Hi! My first cycle they only put one back because of my age and unfortunately it resulted in an ectopic pregnancy. I'm 24, I think they just try to stay clear of multiple births because it's high risk pregnancy.
Me and my partner would absolutely love twins! I will definatly tell them tomorrow we would like two put back they are my embryos after all! Thank u ladies xxx
Hi i'm 34 & have my first appointment in 2weks to get things going. My understanding is that the recommendation is 1 embryo however u have the right to have 2. My husband & I have decided we will insist on 2 embryo transfer (if we have 2) as if we end up with twins it can only be a bonus give our age. Discuss with your partner if u would be ok with twins & what u want. Once u know TELL the clinc as you are the customer whether its an NHS treatment or private. Do what feels right for you. Fingers, toes & everything else crossed for u x
Hi soconfused i was told one also but my heart was saying two and even although they werent too happy they went ahead and i got a bfp , if you feel you really want two put back and accept the risks &twins i would go with it.good luck x
They did this to me told me only one then when a says would like two but on the way for transfer they changed there minds and suggest 2 so maybe change xx
Hi soconfused I understand what your thinking I'm not as young as you but I'm 27 and I really really wanted two in put the 1st try they would only put one egg well that cycle ended in a BFP so
I'm now 9 weeks so stil early days but I had a scan at 7 weeks to tell me I'm having identical twins what a shock so I'm happy that they only put one in I could of been having triplets if they had done what I wanted , everyone different not saying this is gonna happen to you but it a big decision and I wanted to share my story I wish you all the luck possible Kim xxx
Hi Kim,
congratulations on being pregnant with twins we have also been talking about how many to put back. Not starting for another 3 months tho, still reading up about it. I am 30 when we start and DP is 35 years old. I know they only put one back if its a 5 day embryo and possibly 2 if they are 3 day embryos? Was yours a 3 or a 5 day? xx
Thank you so
Much sweetie mine I was 5 day blast so they would put one in but they did say
Even if I get to 3 day and there a top looking ember then they will still only put one back in due to
My age and first go of ivf, and think its great to look into it before you start chick good luck you need to talk your more than welcome. xxxxx
Thank you ladies apparently the nurse who told me I was getting two was mistaken but they allowed me to have two as an exceptional circumstance due to my age. X
That's amazing kimttcnumber2 that you are having twins, congratulations! xx

hi I am the opposite, they offered me 2 day 5 transfer due to my ages (older) and low AMH results. however with the increased risks of miscarriage etc I didn't opt for two due to all the risks. I went for one to be safer and im 8 weeks now. maybe do what feels best for you. to me the risks weren't worth it
Hi all, I had two embryos transferred but when I went for my early scan, we saw that only one took (thank goodness for one at least!!!). My husband asked the consultant what would have happened to the other one and he said that when two are put back in, there is a 75% chance that the two become one. They did not tell us that figure prior to transfer when they originally only wanted one put back in! X
Thank you for all your replies ladies me and my partner decided on two and had two lovely little blastocysts transferred yesterday xx
