Thank you sorry I have to have hcg injections to help me support the pregnant as I have had five miscarriages. Just when I started to loose hope I get pregnant on my 3rd and last round of Ivf. Been a very long and hard time to get to this point. X

Congratulations. Pls can you tell me the meaning of hcg? How does it work and how do we ask of it from our gp?

I had two weeks off work and just rested as much as I could. Don't know too much about the hcg injections all I know is you naturally produce it in pregnancy and it's supposed to help you maintain your pregnancy when topped up as it help you produce more progesterone as that's what you need to keep the embryos nice and snug. You can only get hcg from a consultant in the fertility clinic I think. Hope this helps. Any one else has any more info please feel free to comment. Thank you all for my congratulations.

Hi Harleyc,

Congratulations!!!!!

Hopefully, I will have my ER next week. I was told to be off from work as I will be sedated on that day. I am also worried after ET, if it is advisable to be off from work? I asked my Gynae (fertility clinic) they can't give me sick certificate, should be from my GP. Do you think it is necessary to be off from work for 2weeks and what shall is say to my GP?

All the best! X

Mega congrats that's wonderful news. Hcg is hormone that is produced by the embryo when yr pregnant. When you do preg test at home, it's what the test is detecting if it's positive.

It's great you've been given hcg as this is important in early stages to get the embryo growing. Normally , the hcg numbers double every 2-3 days.

I'm pleased you've been given it as it's not prescribed in my area. It's commonly given in US and India. Here in UK they normally give progesterone pessaries. But HCg is a really good idea.

Wishing you a healthy, happy pregnancy xxx

Ps. When your hcg nos get to 1000, they should be able to see a tiny pregnancy sac on the ultra sound. You should reach 1000 in next 4-5 day!

I'm sorry about your miscarriages we had 3 ourselves before not being able to get pregnant and with all of them our hcg levels were low but it was while we were living abroad and the hospital here doesn't have any details of it, was thinking of asking them about having the injections before our next Et as our first one failed. It's good to hear it's working for you good luck with everything x

No don't think you need to be off work but I thought it would try it and it worked for me but I know a lot of people go back to work. You need to take the day off after egg collocation because of you being out to sleep other then that do what you think is best for you. :)
