I had a higher risk result (1:97) for trisomy 21 on my 13 week blood test yesterday. Going back for NIPT today then will find the results in 7-10days.
Feeling so anxious, I know it’s just a screening algorithm and doesn’t confirm anything (the NIPT will / further test if needed) but completely came unexpected as I am younger and didn’t think I had high risk factors and the scan of baby was fine.
Feels so cruel after fertility treatment and has taken away any joy of seeing baby that has grown and moving around on the scan 😢😭

I’m so sorry you’ve gotten that news and you’re right, it’s completely unfair! One thing I can say is that I’ve seen so many of these posts that turned out fine after the NIPT that I wouldn’t worry just yet. The algorithm is based on age, BMI, IVF, PAPP-A, HCG levels, that it’s best to wait for the NIPT that actually looks at the DNA and not just surrounding factors. I’ll hold everything crossed for you hoping it all comes back clear and that you can enjoy your pregnancy from now on. Let us know when you find out!
I had the same a few months ago (had some lovely replies to my post on here if it helps to look at it) and it is an anxious wait but all was fine on NIPT and I’m actually glad I had the extra test now as feel extra reassuring but my goodness I nearly lost the plot waiting for the test and results!! I am older so I knew that would be a factor in their algorithm though but last baby it didn’t come back high risk and I was older then too!
The fact your baby measurements were good and that it’s still a high number (1:97) is also a good sign, it might be that one of your blood results has skewed it (I had high HCG over 6MoM) did they give you any further info on the results? You might get more details at your NIPT blood test that could shed some more light on it. Thinking of you as I know it’s a blooming weight on your shoulders you just don’t need right now! xx
