Morning / all day sickness

I’m 7 weeks pregnant. I had been feeling completely fine with only sore boobs but this weekend and today, overcome with nausea. No vomiting, just feeling so sick. Tried ginger tea, eating small more frequent l meals, sipping water, bland food (rice cakes only at the moment). I feel better after eating but only momentarily.

I know it usually settles down but any tips of how to manage at the moment? Struggling 😓

Hello my dear,

The internet tells a lot about everything you’ve mentioned but unfortunately it doesn’t work for everyone especially me. Had all day sickness no matter what I ate then it was triggered by just drinking water so ( hand over the face). Crackers and raw cereal worked for a bit but a solid meal is needed for good development. I finally accepted that I was suffering for the baby’s wellbeing so I just was sick. What is certain is that it will start to get better around 10 weeks and basically disappears around 13 weeks then anxiety will wish it returns. You are good and this is positive so good luck!

Thank you, glad to hear it might disappear (eventually!).

It sounds like you’re already trying all the classic tricks, which is great! Something that helped me was keeping plain crackers or dry toast by the bed and nibbling a bit before even getting up in the morning. Lemon water or sucking on lemon drops also took the edge off for me sometimes.

If it feels like nothing’s helping or it gets worse, don’t hesitate to talk to your doctor—they might have more options for relief. Hang in there. Hopefully, it eases up soon! xx

Yes having something before getting up might help. I feel good for a few minutes in bed… then it comes on 😓

Will talk to GP if it carries on

Hi, first of all massive congratulations on your pregnancy. I suffered nausea from 6 to around 16 weeks. I tried to eat little and often but to be honest not much really helped. I found sucking on polos the best thing and took the edge off the nausea for a while. I hope your nausea passes soon and I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy. X

with my first I had it all day and night and could hardly function, this time I’ve been able to function more it might just be that this time was better but I also just embraced being sick this time around and getting it over with. That seemed to help get rid of the nausea a bit like actually just being sick. Other than that the stuff you are doing with the bland foods etc is the best thing to do. I also moved my vitamins (and progynova) to before bed as I found they added to the sickness feeling so could lie down after them was better xx

I had to just eat constantly, it was the only way to keep it at bay. Didn’t help that all I could stomach was chocolate and ice lollies though! I was prescribed cyclizine from the gp which helped but didn’t stop it completely. It is miserable though and feels like it will last forever. Mine peaked around week 12, then at 14+ 4 I woke up and it was gone! Hang in there x

sorry you are feeling so rough! I had this for a week or so and contacted the doctor, they prescribed some meds to help. I only ended up taking them a few times when it was particularly bad, but it’s worth calling them if you are struggling. I couldn’t go to work etc and was feeling really down, GP was very helpful. X

I really struggled with the same from 7-12 weeks, I got some anti nausea medication from the GP which helped a bit and just tried to sleep/rest as much as possible. It stopped at 12 weeks so I think it was made worse by IVF meds, but I promise it does get better. I was struggling in the first trimester and then had much more enjoyable 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Good luck xx
