I had my viability scan this afternoon and found a heartbeat of 132 and everything was fine. This evening I started spotting and had a very tiny clot. Called my doctor and will go in tomorrow to make sure everything is ok but now I’m thinking the worst and I’m wondering if maybe this has happened to others after a transvaginal scan?

6w4d scan and then bleeding
Hey lovely.
Transvaginal scan can indeed dislodge old blood. Spotting is incredibly common in early pregnancy for various reasons (implantation, irritation, hematoma etc), and whilst nerve-wrecking, usually not a cause for concern unless progress to heavy bleeding and/or accompanied by severe abdominal pain.
Also your little bean has great heartbeats and that's a very reassuring sign!
Hope everything's ok tomorrow xx
Hi Icequeen11, I had some spotting the morning of my scan at 6w6d. The nurse who did the scan said she could see she was making it worse and that it was a good thing as the blood was coming from the cervix (likely irritation from pessaries) and not the uterus. Apparently it is very common. My spotting stopped after 24 hours. Fingers crossed the same thing for you! xx
Hi. Spotting can occur as the chorionic villus is changing into the placenta. Also a sign of irritation of the cervix, and urine infection. Drink plenty of water and hopefully by now it will have settled down. Diane
