Morning sickness or bug?

Hello! I struggled with v bad morning sickness from week 5 to week 12/13 but it finally eased and I’ve been feeling much better. However, I’m almost 16 weeks now and I spent all of last night and this morning vomiting. Is it normal for morning sickness to just come back all of a sudden or do I have a bug? It feels like morning sickness but I’m not sure. Any one else experience this? Thanks xx

Hi! Yes, unfortunately, morning sickness can come back anytime. It was that way for me. It would give me a let up and then come right back without warning. I think if you had a bug, you'd be running a fever too. Hope you feel better soon! x

Thanks for replying. Yeah I think it’s just morning sickness as it’s easing a bit as the day goes on. I know this will sound stupid but I’m actually feeling really upset today as I was so ill in the lead up to Christmas and now I keep thinking it will be back to that just as I was starting to feel more normal. I’ve had to take today off work and I’ve already been off so much. I feel like people don’t take morning sickness seriously and expect us to just get on with it but I find it so debilitating! Sorry for the moan! Just feeling sorry for myself. I know I should be grateful to even be experiencing morning sickness but some days it’s tough.

It can be really quite difficult. There were days I couldn't keep anything down - not even water. Ask your doctor if he can give anything to ease it. I know I took something for it. Just can't remember what it is lol. That was almost 4 years ago. Hehe. Take care. x

Yes it can last all pregnancy, or come and go. First pregnancy it was bad up to third trimester and then still came and went, and at times I just sat with my head on the table and cried as I found it so relentless. This time it was much worse early on and then lifted around 10 weeks, and has come back a few times for a few hours or days, but I think when you've felt a bit better for a while it's a bit of a shock to feel rubbish again. Nothing helped last time or in the early stages this time, but in the shorter returning periods this time I have found that eating little and often has helped. I also got tablets from the GP in case it got really bad or lasted a long time again - haven't needed them yet but reassures me to have them. Calling it morning sickness doesn't help people sympathise as it can be any time if day, or all day, so I just started saying sickness. And yes people assume it's mild and even funny, and it really isn't. If you get a temperature or have other symptoms like pain or bowel cramps, bad stomach etc, or you feel v unwell, check with your doctor or midwife to make sure you haven't picked anything up as it can be risktly in pregnancy.
