Anomaly scan has been scheduled for 16 weeks? Is this ok?

Hi all,

I don’t have a 16 week midwife appointment due to my first midwife appointment being out of area and them wanting to move me back to my jurisdiction (randomly assigned.)

But now I’m being booked in for a 16 week scan calling itself the anomaly scan but I thought that was 18-20 weeks. (IVF so I know my weeks.)

Can’t call the helpline but does that mean

a. They are worried? I had a private NIPT at 11 weeks and it was all low risk.

B. They are going to do it early for scheduling reasons & this is all normal

C. They’ve got the dates wrong.

I would do what you can to confirm they have the correct dates for you - I think they do them early more often in the US but in the UK anomaly scans are 18-21 weeks according to NICE guidelines and the NHS website. xx

Hi Adalovelace. Most likely letter B. If there was any worry they would tell you. One more week to go and little one can hear you, so start talking to him/her. All the best. Diane
