i had my growth scan today at 32 weeks and 3 days and baby was measuring normal on the growth charts for FL, HC and AC but on the bigger growth chart he’s measuring small so they’ve added in an extra scan in 2 weeks and a Doppler scan in a week! His estimated weight is 1700g or 3.8lbs.
im now really worried that he’s too small! Any advice?!

Hey Ziggy, I haven’t been in this situation yet but wanted to bump your post up the feed. It sounds like although measurements are normal has baby previously been a bit ahead? So they want to make sure that it’s not the start of growth dropping off?
I had a Doppler ultrasound yesterday and it is used to check blood flow from the placenta - I guess they just want to check that’s still functioning as normal.
Everything I have read says measurements are so often WAY out, and so often people are told baby is small but then they come out normal or even large. Easy for me to say but try not to worry, great they are checking things and you never know in two weeks all might be fine again. Hugs xx
Hi Ziggy, I’ve not had this myself but a friend’s baby measured small at a 30 week private scan. She was referred to her maternity unit, had some extra scans and was worried sick. Eventually they decided to induce her at 38 weeks as they still had concerns about size and she had a perfectly healthy 5lb 10oz baby. He was on the small side in the end but healthy and not as small as her doctors had thought he would be. He’s now a very energetic almost two year old and is tracking on/above average for height and weight.
I think like Daisy says measurements can be very hit and miss- sometimes they’re right but more often than not they’ll be read wrongly and it causes so much stress. It is hard not to worry, but it sounds like your maternity unit are on the case and keeping a good eye on baby to make sure he’s ok. ❤️
Take all the scans you can get 😉 agree with Hidden sometimes the are thinking about growth change and placental functioning. For what it's worth my first 2 ICSI babies the told me would be big and both were small...like <10 percentile small.
Hey there, as others have said, the measurements can be out and often are. Still the best way of keeping an eye on baby so it’s reassuring that they are being cautious. If they measured normal on one growth chart then I suspect there can only be a slight change so that’s something too. Hope all goes well at the next scans.x
