strep b

19 weeks today. So I had been having some slight abdominal pain and had an appointment with the midwife who took urine sample and a swab. Urine came back clear but I am strep b positive, this won’t be treated now but will likely change labour as I will be given antibiotics. Any one any experience of this? I am not paranoid about the negative consequences and my husband does not seem to understand. We have just had an arguement as I said we would want to be careful after birth and we should ask people not to kiss the baby. He thinks that’s going to make us look paranoid! I think he is thinking about his parents and friends - but surely not hey can do as we ask and quite frankly I don’t care what they think!!! Am I over reacting or being silly?

I don't know much about strep B but you'll have lots of timd to read up on it and how best to protect the baby when it comes. But to be honest, if you feel you'd be most comfortable setting some rules like this, I personally think that's fine. It's your baby! If relatives think you're being over the top, who cares 😂 But use the time you have to revisit plans a bit later, rather than let it become a real sore point for you both now when you don't need more stress xx
