light brown discharge at 13 weeks

Hi everyone. I’m new to this particular forum having moved over from the fertility support one. I’m currently 13 weeks pregnant. On Monday I managed to give myself food poisoning and was violently sick several times and felt crap until today. I phoned the midwife and she said not to worry and that there would be no harm to the baby. Today I feel better but when I went to the toilet I noticed some light brown discharge on my pantyliner and now I’m completely freaking out that something could be wrong. Has anyone else experienced similar? I’ve not called the midwife again yet as I thought I’d see how the rest of the day goes rather than panic. Any advice? Should I be calling her straight away or am I right not to panic? xx

Hi haylady. If you have been really sick - vomitting, that can cause pressure in the vagina and some irritation, nothing to worry about. Keep an eye on your urine output in case you may have a bit of an infection. Check in with your midwife who will most like do a urine check. Good luck! Diane

That’s really reassuring, Diane - thank you very much. I was vomiting so hard all my abdominal/stomach muscles were completely clenched so maybe that’s it. It’s just really worrying when you see something unusual. Have left a message for the midwife and will keep an eye on things. Thanks again xx
