Hi ladies, I hope you are well! I’m 24+6 today and still in disbelief!
I had Covid for the first time at the end of July and I’ve been offered a 4th dose of vaccine. Anyone in the same situation and what are you going to do? My due date is 1st January.
I also already had the whooping cough vaccine at my 20 week scan and should do the anti-flu vaccine soon.

I don’t know weather I have had Covid or not, but if I have I believe my body will have made antibodies naturally, I haven’t had any Covid vaccines and personally wouldnt while I’m pregnant. I did however have the whooping cough vaccine at 28 weeks like I did during my last pregnancy.
I was offered the first dose of the vaccine at my booking appointment at 10 weeks and no one has ever mentioned it since and I am now 36 weeks, I feel like that speaks for itself.
I would personally make an informed choice on the pros and cons of receiving it and make a decision based on that. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy ❤️
Thank you. I would have had the 4th dose in pregnancy but just worried as I recovered not long ago and it’s too soon. Maybe it can wait until birth. Thank you and good luck to you too! 💕
I was talking to my friend the other day that is a Dr and apparently it’s best to have it before the third trimester, as this is when people are most at risk during pregnancy. She’s only a month away from giving birth. I’m only 9 weeks and my midwife mentioned it yesterday and I think I will get it. I’m hoping it’s one of the same ones I’ve already had. I had it in May so fairly recent too. Xx
Like you, after avoiding it for so long, I caught Covid in late July. Luckily it was mild.
As I hear immunity wanes over time and you never know about new variants. I would get it. Maybe delay it until you are in your third trimester to allow a reasonable gap. I had my Covid booster when I was about 30 weeks pregnant last year. It was good to see that my daughter who is now 7 months also had a mild illness when we all caught Covid so some immunity passed on to her.
Ultimately though you have to do what works for you. Glad all is progressing well x
Hi, you have natural immunity from catching it mid pregnancy and the added immunity from your 3 doses before. I would personally not get boosted during pregnancy in your situation. I caught Covid at 20 weeks pregnant and was due my second dose, which I decided not to get. It’s a very personal decision, but I think you’ll be absolutely fine to wait.
Hey there, had my covid booster & flu in the last few weeks. I contacted the vaccination centre prior to this for advice and they were lovely and helpful. They gave me all the info I needed to make an informed choice. I’m sure they will be best placed to advise you on your particular circumstances. X
I had Covid during pregnancy and has my booster too. I felt it important to be protected with the flu season coming and before 3rd trimester. All wa s fine
Similar situation here, 27 weeks had 3 doses and covid in March. Am having my 4th dose next week, rates are only going to go up in winter and it’s most dangerous when in your 3rd trimester so an easy choice for me.
I think there is guidance (or there was) about covid recovery and how long to wait until you get a booster. I was due my booster in early December but went down with covid at the end of November and was told I could delay it - I think it’s possibly more about side effects but really not sure. Might be worth asking them or checking the nhs site.
Just had my 4th vaccine (31/40). Feeling completely fine. I’ve never had Covid despite being an NHS worker and working in ICU for all 3 waves and seeing Covid positive patients weekly! I’d absolutely get the vaccine especially if in 3rd trimester. Pregnant women in 3rd trimester are particularly vulnerable to all viruses hence why it’s important to get the flu vaccine too. In my work as an ICU doctor, I’ve seen some unbelievably sick pregnant women with Covid. Yes most get it mildly but I’d never forgive myself if I got it severely and it put the baby & me at risk. Getting Covid does increase risk of pregnancy complications significantly more than the risks of the vaccine (very very low risk). Obviously it’s a personal decision but the evidence is massively in favour of vaccination 🤷♀️
Hi, Francy. I had my fourth vaccine on Monday. Had flu-like symptoms overnight and now totally recovered and baby is fine, kicking away as normal. I wanted to get vaccinated as the risks particularly in third trimester are much higher for pregnant women, and getting vaccinated during pregnancy should also give a little bit of protection to your baby when they're born. xxx
Thank you for all the replies. I am absolutely pro-vaccine and I would have no doubts about having the 4th dose in pregnancy. My question is more based on the fact that I just had Covid in the second trimester, so still thinking about it but thank you all! Xxxx
