We have a c section date!

So surreal to think we now have her birthday date! Unless she decides she’s coming earlier 💗

Feeling very overwhelmed this last couple of weeks trying to get things done.

To think that in 6wks she will be in our arms is absolutely crazy and so exciting. Over 8yrs of wanting to hold our baby it will finally be our time and we couldn’t feel more blessed.

Where is everyone else up to?

wow!!! Fudge that is brilliant news...and the time has really flown by! it is sooo exciting! I can't stop smiling and it means I will probably get a date at my next appointment as well...mind you, I am still flip flopping between natural and c-section

🥳

I can’t believe we are this far along 😁 I hadn’t fully made up my mind but I have a date. We have discussed that if I went into labour earlier we would try for a vaginal birth if I dilate ok. We are doing a gentle section which is what I wanted. My anxiety should hopefully settle down a bit now with a plan in place. Just keep an open mind and maybe consider getting a date you can always change your mind xx 💗

A very good idea… I think I will probably do the same. My next midwife appointment is on the 23rd so will arrange it then. I’ve not heard about a gentle c-section.. how does this differ from the normal elective section? I am still relatively calm on this side.. I am sure the panic will art in soon.. and I still have so much to buy in preparation for her arrival. I also can’t quite believe that I am this far along.. 😅 we’re almost there 😁

From what she explained it means we can watch her being born through a clear sheet. They take more time with the surgery to help lesson recovery. Also if baby is fine she comes straight on to me for skin to skin. They don’t whisk her off. Also said they can wait after opening and see if she will almost come out herself which could take up to 15mins. Seems a little more relaxed and calm. Am glad your doing good 💗 you will be ready am sure. We’ve just her nursery furniture to build and clothes to wash and we are ready! I started quite early tbf xx

Wow yes that does sound quite chilled out. I will ask about the gentle section when I see the midwife next. I thought they always did the skin to skin thing immediately (obviously if baby is ok). You are a rock star, getting everything ready on time. I am always last minute.com🤣🤣🤣 I have to buy a few things still but will hopefully sort that out today. 🤞🏽

Why are you having a c section, any particular reason?

Fudge1980 profile image
Fudge1980 in reply to FrancyItaly

I’ve had many surgeries on my cervix and a piece removed due to cancer cells. There’s a high chance I won’t dilate properly or fully and end up with an emergency section. So for me a planned one is much more reassuring. I feel at peace with a section and all I feel for a natural labour is what could go wrong. We have agreed that if I go into labour and it’s progressing that I would try and deliver. Few other reasons too but that’s my main worry xx

Oh ok, that makes sense, I would do the same xxx

Hi Fudge. I do hope Dad is reading your Daughter a story every night, so she is used to his voice. If so, I guarantee when they hand her over to him and he speaks to her, she will turn and open her eyes straight away. It's magical, and I have seen it happen so many times. Love to all. Diane

This is such exciting news! I'm so thrilled for you! ❤️ A gentle c-section sounds so nice. I know friends who rave about what a positive experience their section was, even if it wasn't in their original plan. But this sounds next level.

We are plodding along and feeling okay! I'm at 18 weeks and still in complete denial... maybe less so with the ever growing basketball that has appeared instead of my belly. But other people's excitement definitely helps. And the 20 week scan should put my mind more at ease a bit maybe.

Although the amount of "oh, do twins run in your family?" comments or "oh, how?" does get me down a bit... Luckily we do actually have twins on both sides so I can halt the topic quite quickly and not have to tell people about our bumpy road to getting here unless I want to!!

xx

Aww your doing great lovely! Your practically half way 😁 I know what you mean about the “questions” I get it because I am older. When people ask is this my first I just get choked up trying to explain. I am proud of our ivf journey but I don’t need to explain to people I don’t know.

Try get as much ticked of your list in this trimester trust me you will not want lots to do after 28wks 🥴

Family have said we have overbought I told them to shush and stay in their lane! If we have overbought we will donate it.

Their your babies and your the parents 💗xx

I’m doing well, going for nuchal scan today and harmony, so so nervous! I’m 11+5 and saw my little one on Monday (+ hematoma) but I am still worried something might be wrong when we go in today 🙄 I guess that will never leave me! xx

Exciting times. How many weeks will you be on your c section date? I had always heard that they like ivf pregnancies to go earlier but I don’t know how true that is.

I’m 21 weeks now. At my last appt last week they said I’ve got a low lying placenta so may end up with a c section too. Baby is also breech. Hopefully lots of time for things to change. Grateful to be this far along and really hoping I can keep baby healthy for another 15 weeks or so! Xxx

Fudge1980 profile image
Fudge1980 in reply to MakingbabyN

Hey lovely 💗 I will be 38+5 for c section. If I chose the induction I’d of been 39+ And it’s only down to age that they will deliver earlier. There’s time for baby to change position but honestly don’t worry you will do whatever is the safest. Of course you will keep baby safe and 15wks isn’t that long 😍xx

Hi there. Just to say I had Placenta Previa at 20 weeks. We were put on a sex ban (!) and I did quite a bit of yoga and at 28 week scan it had gone! At my recent 34 week growth scan the midwife said baby is in the perfect position, so hopefully yours will be too. Xxx

I mean... The placenta had moved up and was no longer covering my cervix... not gone 🤪

Fudge1980 profile image

I won’t see much sun on my skin this year. Ive managed up to now to avoid the swelling 🤞🏼🙏🏼 Not sure how much longer though lol

Yay so exciting! We had similar plan, booked for section on due date but if I went naturally before then then we would let nature take its course. Lazy bum never got down far enough, he was too comfy! I'm a planner though so I was quite pleased I knew dates and times in advance!!

Have you got all your furniture built and clothes washed yet? I loved seeing all the freshly washed vests and sleepsuits on the washing line.

Fudge1980 profile image
Fudge1980 in reply to Chiefy

I’ve had a feeling all along that little miss will be early so I might not make it to c section 🥴 as I’ve got older I like things in order and planned lol Building furniture tomorrow and will start the washing and hopefully get some out on the line 😁

Just arranged to pick the pram up next weekend 💗

That’s awesome! It’s super exciting and slightly terrifying all at once. I’m going in to be induced tomorrow. Had a sweep yesterday and already 1cm dilated so they are hoping the induction will work well but if not they will stop and give me a section so hopefully baby will be here at the start of next week! Eek! Can’t wait! I believe there is a really good video of a gentle section from Wishaw Hospital that has gone on YouTube a few weeks ago if folk are interested as people were talking about it at my yoga class.

It’s so exciting! Oh you haven’t got long either 😍. We’ve just put up the nursery furniture yesterday. Just waiting on some decor bits and it should be finished. Washing being done this week and hospital bags packed maybe beginning of July. It’s really not long now 🫣xx
