Spotting 5w5d

Hey lovelies, looking for some reassurance and personal experiences please. Yesterday I found I was having dark brown spotting when I was at work. I left work as it involves being on my feet and rushing around.

Today the same spotting continues with the same colour. Even though I know it's common in early and especially IVF pregnancies it's just such a worry. I've got an early scan on sunday when I'll be 6w1d so hoping that will provide reassurance or not🤦‍♀️ thanks for reading xxx

Brown blood is old blood but I understand the worry! If you are not cramping it should not be too worrying. Are you using vaginal pressaries?

Yeah it's old blood, I've had cramps on and off but that could also be down to the pessaries. I'm on 3 cyclogest a day and was only doing one vaginally before so now all rectal. Thank you for replying and hope your pregnancy is going well and you're having some peace xxx

Yes some cramping is normal especially so early, it’s only worrying when cramping is very bad. Let us know after the scan xxxx

Hi there, I started spotting at the same time as you and have an ongoing pregnancy. Have had bleeding on and off all the way through so far. Try not to worry, its very common and fingers crossed for your scan. I should also say sometimes the early scan can’t give you an exact answer of what is going on. We had to wait another week before getting an answer which was hard but ultimately good news. Good luck.x

Thank you for replying and so happy to hear your pregnancy continued❤ do you mind me asking when you had your early scan? What did the second scan find? Xxx

Hi lovely, I think it’s impossible to not worry but it can be very very normal. I had brown spotting and some bleeding from about 6 weeks on and off to 10 weeks when I had my son. The pregnancy was completely fine - I’d ring my clinic in a panic now and then if it got worse and they were never concerned unless it turned bright red (which it didn’t) or filled a pad. They wouldn’t even book me in for a scan or bring mine forward as they weren’t worried.

Sending you big hugs and all the luck in the world for your scan - try to take it easy til then xx

I was bleeding as well yesterday and have seen the beating heart and the little one today. So hang in there. It is just old blood that’s expected at this time. I also checked with the doctor today and also my clinic in Prague and they said it happens and as long as there is no uterine cramping, it is nothing to worry. It is just the baby settling in and some old blood being pushed out.

Praying and sending all positive vibes for your scan. 🤞❤️🍀

Hello lovely. I had this and it turned out to be the pessaries but they checked me for a UTI as well. Xxx

Thank you for replying, so glad you found the cause and hope your pregnancy is going well❤️ I've changed pessaries to the back door now 😊

All is well, thanks, lovely.

After I swapped pessaries to the back the bleeding stopped after about a week. Hopefully it will be the same for you! 🧡🧡🧡

Hi, I had this at 5 weeks and 7 weeks. It was a mix of dark brown and sometimes little bit red. Mostly looked like coffee grounds and brown. It was fine, clinic put it down to presseries and it went on its own after about 5-7 days. Wishing you all the best with the scan. X
