Symptoms worse at 12 weeks 🤢

So relieved to have passed the 12 week milestone 😅. And feel so lucky to be able to complain 😬.

Anyone else’s symptoms got worse at 12 weeks rather than better?

I’ve had bad nausea from 4 weeks, it was awful 5-7 weeks and then 9-11 weeks. But it’s now even worse! I get an hour of respite in the morning but it starts again around 8:30am and gets worse through the day. Eating bland beige food helps but the last few days I’ve been sick & frequently retching.

I wonder if it’s because I’m weaning off my steriods?! I know steriods can help nausea.

My nausea started improving gradually from 11 weeks before coming back with a vengeance for 3-4 weeks. Now 19 weeks and no nausea, just food aversions. I hope it’s the same for you! xxx

Hey Jenroy, congratulations on this milestone. Personally can’t comment on the steroids but the all day sickness for me did not dissipate at 12 weeks. For me it did not get worse per day but stayed the same until well into my second trimester.

Hopefully yours will improve faster than mine. I even had the odd sickness bout in my 3rd trimester.

Hello lovely. No advice just commiserating: I am 12.3 and my morning sickness is going as strong as ever! I’ve always found daytime more manageable than the evenings, though, and it’s easier now I’ve discovered more foods I can tolerate. Are you managing to get enough calories in? Xxx

Yeah, evenings much worse for me. Managing to get enough calories in, feeling so unhealthy as I’m eating so much beige carbohydrates! Last day or so has been a bit better 🤞

Yes, beige food is super depressing after a while! I have found I can tolerate watery veg like raw cucumber, peppers, lettuce much better than cooked veg. - worth a try if you haven’t already! Glad the last few days are a little better. Hopefully heading in the right direction! 🤞🏻

Mine stayed the same until the end of my second trimester and came and went in the third. Coming off progesterone helped with the headaches and bad stomach but the nausea just wouldn't budge. Although I kind of got used to feeling cr*p all the time it was quite depressing sometimes and hopefully you have some support? Try to stay hydrated even just sucking on ice cubes as otherwise you can feel worse from dehydration. I didn't find anything that helped really although little snacks and beige food seemed to take the edge off. I also discovered I could tolerate a surprising amount of vanilla ice-cream!

Regular snacks has definitely helped as has beige food 😆. And ice lollies have been my saviour!!

Hi JenRoy,

I’m in the same situation! I’m almost 13 weeks and nausea and vomiting getting worse, I’m convinced it’s because of coming off steroids too, which I reduced from 10 weeks and stopped at 12 weeks. The same happened in my first IVF pregnancy too and things didn’t improve until I was 17 weeks. I hope you start to feel better soon!

I was blessed with not having any morning sickness so I don’t have any advice.. just wanted to drop a message to say that I’m sorry you’re feeling like cr*p. Xx

Hi JenRoy, Congratulations on getting to 12 weeks :)

I feel your pain with the pregnancy sickness getting worse before getting better. I had really bad sickness from week 6 through too week 16. Despite not wanting to I ended up going to the doctor to get some anti-emetics (Citrizine) which helped a little. I was worried I had hyperemesis, but lucily I could sip a little water.

I was having a strange problem with overproduction of saliva - I think this helps protect the oesphagus in sickness and because I was not able to drink much the saliva was very thick - which was also making me sick (TMI). I think I was sick every day for about 10 weeks with weeks 8-13 maybe 6/7 times a day (it was pretty bad). I lost quite a bit of weight and strength just overall in my body.

Luckily I was able to work from home- I wouldn't have managed the travel and it was comforting to be able to lie down if I'd been quite poorly. I also took 2 weeks off because the GP suggested that the stress of falling behind at work might exacerbate symptoms. The sickness was so much worse in the evening for me so I had to change when I took prenatals so that they were absorbed in the morning before the nausea and sickness came. Gosh whenever anyone says morning sickness I think how inaccurate a term it can be for many women - especially when they experience whole day sickness.

I'm now 18 weeks and hadn't been sick for a week (hurrah!) until last night when I drank something fizzy and my body instantly rejected it! I feel tonnes better but still on the bland foods!

We had the Harmony test early (10.5 weeks) and found out we are having a little girl. Quite a few people have since said to me that sickness can be much worse with girls, but I wonder if this is a myth?

I hope you feel better soon, hang in there - there are plenty of us around cheering you on.

xx

Thanks lovely. Goodness me your “morning” sickness sounds horrendous!!! So glad you’re beginning to feel better.

I’m hoping things settle soon. It was a bit better yesterday so maybe it’s the start of an improvement 🤞

I’ve eaten so much bland carbs that I’ve put on so much weight. Quite embarrassed about it really. Just hoping I get some energy back so I can start doing lots of walking & swimming to try and prevent much more weight gain.

Congratulations on having a girl! Lovely 🥰.

Funnily enough, I had no nausea with my daughter. I wonder if I’m having a boy ☺️x

Hiya, I was just wondering how you’re getting on now? I’m nearly 9 weeks and feeling horrendous. It would be great if I could see some light at the end of the nausea tunnel! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Maybe slightly better or possibly I’m just more used to it. Still nausea and lots of food aversion. Hoping that it will improve around 16 weeks 🤞. My worst time has been 6-8 and 10-13 weeks xx

Hi Jen, it’s me again! I’m 16 weeks now and still feeling so sick in the evenings. Just wondering how yours is now? Xx

I had morning sickness and exhaustion really bad with this baby, its only started easing around 20+ weeks, so I'm now nearly 31 weeks and most days I take one or two tablets to keep the nausea at bay. My best advise would be to speak with your gp and get some medication to try, they can be reluctant if your not being sick all of the time xx I had it until birth with our first x
