Hi everyone - I’m 14 weeks tomorrow and finally thought the sickness had calmed down, had about a week of no throwing up…. Until this AM. Had to run to the toilet and immediately after I had a nose bleed, which I’ve never had in my life before. Has anyone else experienced this? I thought the IVF would be the biggest worry but it never stops, I’m paranoid. X

Sickness and nose bleeds
Hi there
When I was pregnant, I had really bad morning sickness and sometimes this was followed up by nosebleeds. Like you I had never had nosebleeds in my life until pregnancy. Furthermore my morning sickness like yours crept into the 2nd trimester. I wondered when I would get relief 😮💨
Anyhoo, when I spoke to my midwife she did not seem worried as she said you have a lot more blood in your system trying to sustain another human being inside you. I think the intensity of vomiting causes the blood vessels in your nose to burst hence the nosebleeds.
If you are worried, mention it to your midwife but for me it was nothing to worry about as I gave birth just over a week ago 😊
All the best with the rest of your pregnancy 💕
Hey lovely,
I’ve had horrible nose bleeds during both my pregnancies. I think I’d only ever had one nose bleed in my life before that! It’s to do with all the extra blood flow and nothing to worry about xxx
My sickness didn't really ease until 17-20 weeks, had a few good weeks and then it came back but maybe in a much more 'typical' way, like in the morning and not that intense but it was still a bit disappointing as I thought it would just go eventually. Funnily enough I was saying to my OH this morning about how I'm so stuffy and I keep getting blood when I blow my nose - never had a nosebleed before - but I read it's normal. All the symptoms keep changing and right now I'm struggling more with acid reflux and thigh cramps at night symptoms - all very random and Google on the one hand tells me it's normal and also that I have a blood clot!
Hi there, sorry you’re still feeling so sick. But yes nosebleeds are common in pregnancy. There’s an nhs page on it. I’d never heard of it either but when I found the page I was like oh okay. Mine have calmed down a bit now but I’m 23 weeks and it’s taken that long for bloody noses to stop. I’m afraid it’s just all part of it but nothing to worry about.
I hope you start to feel better soon. I waited for the 12 weeks everyone talks about to pass so that I would start to feel better and it hasn’t really happened as I expected. I’m 18 weeks and took myself to physio this week as I’ve been so sore, I’m still getting waves of awful nausea every few days (although thankfully not actually being sick) and I have also had nose bleeds in the morning. I told the midwife at my appointment the other week and she said nose bleeds in pregnancy were very common and not to worry about it. Good luck! X
