As previous posted on here I was diagnosed with Chirrosis in January,as my previous scan was ok I found it unusual I was diagnosed with that and it’s affected me greatly since.Today my Fibroscan was 7.6 and the operator was adamant I did not have Chirrosis.Only thing I can think of is 4 years ago 100 pounds heavier and with a huge stomach I was 19 Kpa and it must have gave a false reading due to that. Can anyone help me and trying to explain what is going on here.

Hi Big

People have always said that cirrhosis was not reversible but we learned that was not true when the HEP C cures started to recover. You are likely a big success story and not a diagnosis failure. I went from 19 to 9 in 2 years verified with MRE. Losing the weight and living healthier probably saved your life. You have made more progress than most but the key to that is how much of the scar tissue was fully matured. The liver is well equipped to remove fibrin that has not fully polymerized so give yourself an ataboy and stay the course.

Fibroscan's are not that accurate

So what does that mean then,so I could have Chirrosis and the scan isn’t showing it.What an absolute strain on my mental health.I don’t know if I have Chirrosis,so what is accurate and how do I know if I have it or not.I thought that reading ment I’m in the clear. The operator said my liver has no sign of Chirrosis.

A liver biospy would be accurate. A fibroscan had mevatxstage 2 nash but the liver biopsy had me at stage 3. My mri indicated my liver was fine

It helps to study the function and science behind Fibroscan. And be aware Fibroscan slashed revenue flow to people who perform the biopsies. You will never get an impartial opinion from those people. Study up on how stiffness is measured by Fibroscan and keep in mind that procedure had to endure all sorts of comparisons all over the world before it reached its present level of predominance.

The Veterans Admin hepatologist told me biopsies are down to about 10% of liver assessments.
