Hello All,I know I have a liver problem and in the process of getting a ultrasound of liver, some time this week or next. I am having liver pain on and off with feeling nauseous with occasionalvomiting ( so graphic). I also been having weekly migraines. My liver enzymes are elevating. I went to the hospital Christmas day with a migraine and had evaluated liver enzymes as well before that, then a few months ago had blood work again went up more. I am thinking maybe part of the reason they my be going up is taking excedrin for my migraines isn't helping. Since then I have been taking NAC. Currently I stopped all supplements. I am trying to quit smoking. I am starting to change my diet. I will be surprised if my ultrasound comes back normal. Once that comes back I will tell my doctor to let me change my lifestyle changes for the next 3 - 6 months then do blood work and another ultrasound. Of course keep that lifestyle.
So starting tomorrow no more cigarettes. Sometime this week or next week will be my ultrasound. Once I get that I will post that along with my blood work too. I will keep track of my diet. I may after a 2 weeks incorporate NAC and turmeric and maybe milk thisle with a mix in the supplement. First I want to give my liver a total break from supplements/herbs and cigarettes. My symptoms are fatigue, constant weird feeling on the right side, nauseous with occasional vomiting, exercise intolerance, neck /head funk feeling and migraines ( 2 different feelings). Each day is a question of will I have a migraine, liver pain or neck stiffness.
That enough for now. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

I'm glad you are getting started on recovery. It is vital that you give your liver a break as you suggest. If you can, get a liver stiffness test. Fibroscan is the most common but some new ultrasounds have it too. A regular ultrasound can't tell you much about your fibrosis level and that is the thing that you really need to know about. The pain and nausea are common symptoms of NASH so it is good that you are pursuing a diagnosis. Lots of folks here on the same train so stay in touch.
It is a separate test. If you have to choose go with the Fibroscan. Ultrasound is effective monitoring for liver cancer and moderately useful for liver fat content but is of no value for measuring fibrosis.
Wouldn't testing for cancer and fat be more important. That test looks like it is geared towards hepatitis b and c. They came back negative. I had a lot of testing the only things that was high was:Ast - 45
The results above was from 8/2022. I thought that was my most recent. Unfortunately I just looked at them and its way higher and my vit d is low. Anyway, I am going to print the results so I can white out my personal information. Then upload it.
No, fibrosis is what drives bad health and if you have advanced fibrosis they should follow up with the ultrasound to screen for cancer. Also, a Fibroscan will also give you a fat measurement as a bonus.
Can't really read them, but we aren't doctors and there is more about you that your physician will know to put these things in context which is why we can't really play doctor on the internet. I think you are on the right track and digging into the details with your doc will help you really understand your situation.
Hi there! My son suffers from Cirrhosis and has tried many things to help him detox and continue on a wellness pathway. He started drinking celery juice once a day in the morning. Wayne may want to weigh in on this. But it helped my son detox and help with inflammation. My husband and I drink it too to help with all health issues. It's also a natural diuretic and helped my son with all the swelling and edema in his ankles. Here is the link.
Quick update. Next week is my scan. My update is that I started taking my 2 supplements again with better results, NAC (1 - 500 mg in the morning on an empty stomach, it gives me energy for some reason) and Tudca ( 1 -250 mg miday or night with a meal, this one helps digestion for me). Have no pain at all. When my ox bile comes I will be adding that with the Tudca. Also been juicing beets, carrots, ginger, turmeric, lemon and small apple. The supplements really made the difference.
That is so interesting because I just read an article about how it E and NAC can be helpful. I know this is a vitamin site, so we should all consult our providers before taking, bout it was interesting. I have never heard of Tudca? I'll look that up.
Quick update. My scan showed 2 cysts. Doc said nothing to worry about. So I told him I am making lifestyle changes to let me get blood work done in about six months. In a few months I will update again on my changes and how it effected me
