Puzzled and very scared.

I am new to liver issues...I was diagnosed with liver fibrosis 3-4 by my primary. Just went to a gastro who did a fibro ultrasound and found that I do have scarring consistent with 3-4 but no significant fat in my liver. I have an A1C of 7.8, very good ldl/hdl but high triglycerides and high liver enzymes. Now going for battery of bloodwork to find out what is going on and what could be causing this. Rarely ever drink, not even wine. Absolutely no symptoms of anything. Anyone ever hear of this. Bloodwork should take about 3 weeks.

Well Your diagnosis sounds bout like what I heard 18 mos ago. I have had diabetes and High triglycerides, they said I had a fatty liver because the diabetes caused me to have the fatty liver, I rarely drank anything. So working with the bariactric dept of local Medical center, I didn't want the surgery so I opted to loose 125# in a year to reverse my diabetes and my liver issues. I started March 12, I have lost 60lbs and I do not take any insulin anymore. I was up to 5 shots a day totaling 225 units a day. My A1c is at 6.0 and should be down in the 5's next check. I am eating a Low Carb new way of life. I am now down to 40 carbs a day. My liver Dr's were very happy when I saw them a few weeks ago and they said that if I kept going I would certainly reverse my fatty liver, my fibrosis and even some of my cirrohsis. So there's still a light at the end of the tunnel...

High triglycerides can do some damage what is you meld? This should tell the tale. It is possible that high triglycerides could be a issue.

It will increase the levels of fat on your liver. Stop all junk food and go to a Mediterranean type diet and lose weight. It is possible that with Cirrhosis your triglycerides will drop due to the Liver being not able to process these. Number one is not to panic. You are going to be fine. You may just have a exceptionally fatty liver. Cut weight and you can avoid cirrhosis. Even if you do have it there are a number of years before it will be serious. Get a idea of your Liver enzymes as well as your MELD this will tell the tail of where you are at. They are making strides in Liver Cirrhosis every day. You have a ways to go but without knowing you MELD or you enzyme count it is exceptionally to tell what is going on. If they have not done blood work for Liver Enzymes have them do it and calculate your MELD. Get to a GI Specialist who knows what they are doing and send those results on this site when you get them. You may be better off than you think.

I have never been given a meld number. I've only heard it here. Never from my doctors.

A MELD score is a point system that ranges from 1 to 40 the higher the more sicker you are. They can compute this off your blood tests. If you have any recent blood tests please message me on messenger and I will use a calculator for MELD scores for you to figure out where you are at.

does a liver biopsy have an effect on the Meld score?

No. But it can tell you your level of scarring on your Liver also it is helpful to determine what led to your condition. The procedure is not done very much as there are to many issues that could result. Bleeding among the most worrisome.

Yes, I've had 2 biopsies and level 10 meld score, just surprised the biopsy was not considered. I was told a biopsy is the only sure way to know where you are with NASH. It is all so puzzling.

A biopsy is considered dangerous. If they nick a blood vessel or cause a tear in the Liver you can end up very dead. See if you can get a CAT Scan done this is extensive and may tell the tale. It presents a picture of layers of the liver and can give a great deal of info. It is also non evasive so there is no risk what so ever.
