My biopsy showed I have have granulomatous hepatitis with stage 3-4 fibrosis and moderate fatty liver. They don't know what the granulomas are from. Trying to figure out if losing weight will even help me as I don't know if the granulomas are causing the fibrosis. I know losing weight is good either way, but would Luke to know the chances that the granulomas is the problem. Thanks

Granulomatous Hepatitis

The causes of liver granulomas are legion. Infectious disorders are the most important: bacterial (eg, TB and other mycobacterial infections, brucellosis, tularemia, actinomycosis); fungal (eg, histoplasmosis, cryptococcosis, blastomycosis); parasitic (eg, schistosomiasis –the most important worldwide, toxoplasmosis, visceral larva migrans); viral infections, which are less common so without further testing there is no telling but if related to NAFLD often disappear with weight loss.
I had some tests done. I know I had tb test, and some others, but not sure about these others. None sound familiar. I am wondering if there is treatment for any of these. I see a doc at John's Hopkins and I hope he did all the tests I needed. They pretty much said it could be from crohns or liver injury from meds, but have no idea really. Therefore no treatment. I just hope they did all the tests that were needed.
