Fatty Liver and Plavix

i am going in for heart cath next week. If i need stents i will have to take Plavix for 12 months. Is anyone here on Plavix with fatty liver. Did anyone have heart stents placed after fatty liver diagnose and also put on Plavix?

No direct experience but a quick check of the literature suggests a discussion with your liver doc. Plavix is inactive until it is processed by the liver so if your liver is functioning poorly you may not get the normal effect from a particular drug. It may also raise you liver enzymes which deserve at least consideration depending on your liver health.

Thanks. Yes- I had read that too about Plavix being activated by liver and was hoping others on site may be on it and offer any further insite. My cardiologist not concerned- stating not aware of any Plavix/liver issues; but waiting to hear from liver dr. Between a rock and hard place though as if heart cath indicates stents needed- i will need to be on Plavix for a year nonstop and i dont see away around it if I have heart blockage as do not want cardiac arrest either. Ugh- there must be other heart people who have fatty liver who also needed stents; especialy dome people did not know they even had nafld or nash before heart surgery who were on Plavix too.
