Psoriatic Arthritis with fatty liver disease

I have Psoriatic Arthritis (PSA). While doing research on line I am finding that fatty liver and PSA go hand in hand. Does anyone here have PSA with fatty liver?

Hi RM

Indeed, psoriasis is a comorbid condition with liver disease. The precise mechanisms are still a matter of debate but the liver is the chemical factory for the body and drives a lot of the immune system functions so it makes sense that there would be a connection. They call mine osteo arthritis as some of my finger joints are deforming and I don't have skin lesions but all of these fit into a broad family of metabolic dysfunction. Not much help other than the knowledge that you are on a train with a lot of other folks.

The key word for you. Anti-inflammatory

Hi Rm, I can only think myself lucky in comparison. I do have a touch of arthritis in some joints, leading to things like not being able to unscrew jars, and stiffness hips, knees, ankles when mobilising after rest. It’s been a while since my last bad bout when I was prescribed Anti inflammatory which really helped. I’ve also know some who have hot wax treatments which appears to give fairly positive results. All best wishes chrissie x

Hi Rm2816. Not PSA, but Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and NASH. I think both the autoimmunity diseases and drug treatments promote NASH. I'm not.a dr though just what I have seen with others and from reading. Wish I had been told when first diagnosed with RA (9 yrs ago) how important my diet would be and to change it immediately.

Yes I agree. Both my gastro and rhumy believe it’s fatty liver. They both say my labs don’t tell them cirrohsis. But, stressed the importance of losing weight. I’ve already lost 22lbs by eating healthy. I’m determined to fight this. Thank you all for your support.

I visited my gastro and my rhummy with the results of my fibroscan in hand. Gastro said I have fatty liver. Although my scan showed fibrose liver between F3-F4. He said my blood work didn’t showed cirrohsis. Instructed me to lose weight and take 400 IU of Vitamin E twice a day. The rhummy said I have fatty liver. He said the fat on liver sometimes shows up as fibrose liver on scan. He said all my blood work is normal. He said to lose weight. Both Dr’s said to continue my psoriatic Arthiritis monthly injection and statin pravastatin. I discontinued taking both as I thought they may have contributed to my scan results. I did start back on the injection because I was covered in psoriasis. I am very apprehensive to continue the statins. My dr’s all said they did not endorse this but, I feel like my body needs a break from them. I am losing weight and hope and pray to get better. I’m still a little nervous about the fibroscan score. Both dr’s didn’t seem affected by it.
