I have had itchy red spots break out off and on for 3 years or more. Does the itch that goes with the fatty liver have skin break outs such as this? My doctor recently told me I have mild fatty liver after a CT scan for another issue.

Fatty Liver itch
Hi EllynNot typically a sign of fatty liver but a common symptom of PBC, a liver disease related to bile ducts and can overlap with fatty liver. You would need to see a specialist to get a proper diagnosis. The typical doc isn't properly trained to diagnose liver disease. There are a lot of kinds of rash so only a proper medical exam can sort that out. Good luck.

Hi Wayne, Thankyou I will look into this PBC. Is there a rash that shows up on the skin associated with PBC ? I have a rash always and I am trying to figure out if I have an allergy to something I am taking/eating or is it this fatty liver/PBC issue. Thank you
It could be anything - for example - psoriasis - see pictures

Or it could be a new soap! - see pictures -

My point is - there are many things that it could be before you worry about liver disease.
I am NOT a doctor, a dermatologist is probably the right doctor to visit for this.
Good luck!
Ken what a great post. I recently broke out on side of leg with something that resembles the rash. Mine was flat red dots that itched and when scratched raised up but had no discharge and eventually dry up. I also take a Beta Blocker so now I am going to see a Dermatologist although most of them I know are not the smartest books in the library.
Here is my question: If you have fatty liver itch do you also have a rash with it? I am trying to do process of elimination. I had not seen a post where there was anything commented on that they had a rash accompanying the fatty liver itch. So I wanted to inquire if folks that have the itching with the fatty liver also have a break out of a red rash on the skin. The last 2 weeks have been constant rash with itching and on many places but only on my torso. I have had this off and on for the last 3 years. until 2 weeks ago and it is now constant. Dr. took a skin sample and it came back as something I was ingesting probably supplement. So thus the elimination and questions about fatty liver itch. I took Benadryl liquid filled capsule 2 nights in a row and the rash has pretty much disappeared along with the itching. Thank you for any info from readers.
I have liver disease and have itching. My skin doesn't show as a rash. I take anti-histamines twice a day and the itch goes away. I also sometimes use lidocaine 5% ointment if it gets really bad.
Lots of things cause rashes, PBC is just one but since your doc has said you have a fatty liver it would be smart to get a good understanding of your liver's condition. They may be unrelated but understanding what is disrupting your system is key to trying to deal with it.
Hello Ladyellyn, I have this identical rash almost all over my body. I thank you very much for posting. The link that you have shared shows the very same rash and symptoms that I have been suffering. None of my Drs. were able to isolate this. I will show them this link today. My liver readings have been good. Just came back at 25 (sgot) Have the best day, Abriedoodle
I have written out all my supplements and vitamins I take on paper. I have not taken any for 2 weeks now and still have the break out. I am now thinking I have an intolerance to soy and have eliminated it. Very little has changed in my life since March 2020 . Other then being lonesome living alone. I just was trying to find out if people that have itch from fatty liver also have a rash. My doctor said the fatty liver was not a big concern.......she claims everyone in the US has fatty liver and mine was minor. I have cleaned my diet up. I think these really are not the golden years.
I'm not a doctor. I'm not a medical professional. I am not an expert. Now that I have repeated that...
I don't think what you have is related to your liver but due to something else.
One thing seems clear, you are frustrated and stressed. So...

See a dermatologist is my suggestion.
Hi Ken, I am really not frustrated or stressed just researching to see what kind of answers I am able to get. I am somewhat disillusioned with the isolation this virus has created. I am usually very active in my community and social dinner parties, music events at our Blues club etc.. Maybe more of a weird depression then anything else. The dermatologist wants to give me heavy drugs that I am not on board with ingesting or run a battery of "what are you intolerant to tests." I think I can isolate what I am intolerant to by process of elimination. I am very close with the homeopathic community as well and have received some good advice. I will update soon. I am pretty confident now with the answers on here this itch is not associated with my mild fatty liver and thank you for your input on that. I do very much appreciate all the wonderful information and comments have been very helpful. Many Thanx
