I went for a routine Ultrasound of the abdomen last week and this showed fatty liver. I went to a hepatologist the next day who immediately conducted a fibroscan.
The results were:
CAP - 273 (S2)
LSM - 3.7 (F0)
He gave me advise to loose tummy weight (I’m not overweight), look at diet and exercise and repeat scan in 6 months.
He tried a draw me a diagram of fatty liver disease stages and seemed to suggest NASH stage 2 based on the above results.
I really don’t know how to deal with this, or understand how serious it is.
I started on exercise bike the next day, changed diet and aim to loose 5% weight.
I have read lots of horror stories, Googling constantly and scarring myself that this is just going to get worse!

I am recently diagnosed and waiting on a fibroscan and naturally freaking out. Don’t google, it’s the worst possible thing you can do! The good news is you can 100 percent reverse a stage 2 fatty liver especially with no fibrosis if you put in the work which is sounds like you strive to do. Most people have a fatty liver and don’t have issues but there is a percent of people that if untreated that it can lead to damage and cirrhosis and because of that everyone should take it seriously. Unfortunately not everyone does including some doctors. Stay motivated and you can take your health back. 🙂
It is so scary when you get a diagnosis! The good news is that you are NOT alone and there IS hope to heal that liver! When I was diagnosed in Feb. 2021 it was early stage 4. Now I am in stage 3 and hope to continue that trend to reverse this. (I do not have cirrhosis, thank goodness.) Make sure you have a good liver doc whom you trust and who listens to you. That is SO important. It is okay to be afraid or to feel whatever you feel. And then you set it all aside, hunker down and invest in hope. Google is probably what most of us do first. But, as Wayne said in another post, "Doctor Google" is definitely NOT our friend. I am an academic, so understanding sources is helpful, but even I run across some crazy stuff out there and have to calm myself down! LOL. This is a great site for bringing balance to your life. Be aware. Make sure you eat healthy stuff. Exercise is great. Hope is the best medicine of all.
Yes. My last fibroscan puts me in stage 3 still. cap was around 244 I think and kPa 13. The MRI showed no cirrhosis and my enzymes are all in the normal range. Hoping for reduction in kPa with next fibroscan!
Mine was 13.something too 😔. I don’t know why really as I don’t have any real issues to cause it. My doctors are baffled too about wtf is wrong. I read on a few sites stress can be a factor and I’ve ALWAYS had bad stress and anxiety, so maybe that’s it. I’m really hoping I can get mine down too. I have been exercising more and eating very low fat and taking supplements. I don’t know if kpa went down yet but my enzymes got a little better.
Yes, exercise is one of my goals too, not only because of the weight loss benefits, but it helps the body process cortisol (stress hormone.) Double bonus! I think one of the benefits of groups like this is that it CAN reduce stress. Sharing our stories and knowing we are not alone, that there is hope, makes a big difference!
