I read having juice of a lemon in water every morning helps detox the liver. Is this true?

The only thing that works is a good diet over time. I don't know of a study that shows that lemon in the morning is useful but if it gets you hydrated probably good. A cup of coffee is better but here is info on our approach to diet.

Not if you have Gasteritis which was the case with me with Fatty liver. My problem was i couldn't consume Coffee or Citrus as it irritated my stomach lining. So be careful and consult doctor.

If you don’t mind me asking, what do you eat? My husband has the same problem with his stomach.

Here is my typical routine,

1. Morning watermelon.

2. Breakfast: I eat fried eggs with brown bread , no Jam or butter.

3. Lunch and dinner very low sodium and spice chicken curry in olive oil with boil rice or whole wheat roti aka chappati something similar to tortilla bread.

4. Low fat yogurt with most meals

I rarely cheat and have some biscuits or coffee cake with evening tea but that day i feel liver pain.

5. Also taking vitamin D and E

This is my routine, please use with caution and according to ur symptoms. Watermelon trick i got from a friend not doctor will tell.

Hope ur husband recovers soon.

The whole 'Detox the liver ' is a bit of an elephant really. The best way to make your liver healthier is with a good diet. The foundation has links to what constitutes a good diet. FYI lemon water is nice hydration regardless. It certainly won't harm your liver.

A good low carbohydrate diet, 30 carbs a day, water or black coffee, and exercise, loose 125 lbs in a year and keep it off

I started this diet May 2019 and so far have lost my fatty liver & fibrosis.

Hi what level was your fibrosis? If I may inquire. F3? F2?

Herman7275 profile image

Been at this for 2.5 years.

You can definitely get those numbers down. I weighed 320 pounds 8 months ago and have lost 120. My last score was 7.2 KPa. I believe this is also starting out F2, but I was 8 a few months earlier. As soon as my numbers hit the 6’s, no more fibrosis. With hard work and dedication, it can get much better

My son has gained weight and is up to 325 pounds. We are struggling with a weight loss plateau. I want to help so much and would love to know how you managed to lose your weight. He is so depressed and defeated right now. Any information would be greatly appreciated. He has some low back pain issues from a car accident and sciatica. Exercising is a bit difficult but he is trying to walk more. But has COPD and gets short winded. He is on Oxygen mostly at night. Thanking you in advance.

Yes I got 1st word late 2018 and met with liver specialists in 2019 and was given option to loose 2\3 of my stomach and deal with liver disease or start a low carb diet and loose 125lbs and keep it off and do it the way they want me to do it.
