I am newly diagnosed with cirrhosis with ascites. Like many of you, I am trying to learn as much as possible. My Dr. has not provided a great deal of information.
Recently, I have been experiencing nocturnal explosive diarrhea. I will spare you the details, but it is very troubling. Is this common with cirrhosis or is it likely something else.
Thanks in advance for any thoughts you have.

Hi
I'm sorry you are struggling. I have Nash plus many other conditions so I'm not sure what causes my stomach to go wayward!! Take care Lynne
Hi, have you changed you diet since you’re diagnosis?. I know when I changed mine following mainly Mediterranean I was overdoing it with all the fruit and veggies 😉oops. However patients and practice has paid off. Far more comfortable now.
Thank you . I have moved toward a Mediterranean plan and added coffee, which I had not drank until now. I hope it does become more comfortable. It is difficult to make professional presentations with my stomach gurgling, the belching and other symptoms.
I cant actually answer your question. I have ibs as well, and that can be a problem. I would be much more afraid if you have ascites and fast track it to a specialist.
I have had daytime explosive diarrhea most of my adult life but my new hepatologist suggested taking pre and probiotics daily and amazingly, I am doing so much better after one month.
Don't eat BEEF.. Yes I can get diarrhea and then so exhausted. It comes from certain foods that you eat that are hard for the liver to digest properly. I can it flu like systems. Usually sick 24 to 48 hours after you ate wrong. Beef is especially bad. Once in a while I will crave beef and I look ahead at my schedule and know I can stay in bed if I eat it, but I know it's not healthy for me. Sugars will trigger it too. Just watch the diet and I know it is so hard to do. Just watch what you get and see what triggers it and what doesn't. What makes you itch and what doesn't. What makes it swell. Stress triggers a lot in my. I try to relax as much as possible within the last 18 months.
