When I’ve previously posted I’ve speculated about my diagnosis and was awaiting testing. My MRE came back as fatty 19% when it should be less than 5% but no fibrosis (F0). They do not know why I had ascites and if they’ll return. I am on 12.5 mg HCTZ. I ran out, and I feel my abdomen increasing with fluid. In this case, I disagree with Mayo and my heptologist, there’s no other reason for my ascites. Has anyone else had ascites without fibrosis or any knowledge of what could be going on? I asked for a cardiologist, but that will be January before I can get in to see one.

Ascites with No Fibrosis?
Hello Dying101
Anytime you are not a typical case diagnosis can be really hard. Ascites is typically associated with portal vein pressure but blood chemistry plays a role as well. Perhaps someone here has knowledge of HCTZ but I don't. It may be that you need to have a hematologist, a blood doc, take a look It is possible to increased portal pressure for reasons other than fibrosis so you might also want to know if your spleen is normal size as an enlarged spleen may indicate portal pressure as well.
Being special can be hard, good luck.

Thank You for your help and guidance. Well, you were correct in rare and different. I found out I have a mass on my brain, fluid (brain/spinal/axial) accumulation, and flattening of the pituitary gland. I’m awaiting on a neurologist appointment. So most of my problems had nothing to do with my fatty liver. I’m still not sure about the abdominal ascites?
