A Japanese research scientist has found a way to limit fibrosis in Nash and cirrhosis. These findings were published in Scientific Report

The research group was led by Associate Professor TAKAHASHI Yutaka (Division of Diabetes and Endocrinology, Department of Internal Medicine, Graduate School of Medicine) and medical research fellow NISHIZAWA Hitoshi (Division of Diabetes and Endocrinology, Kobe University Hospital).

Good info...a promising therapy we need to follow.

Quote from an article found on MedicalExpress.com:

“The prevalence of fatty liver and NASH are very high in patients with growth hormone (GH) deficiency, and the research group has demonstrated that this was caused by a lack of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), which is mainly induced by growth hormone. The group has further proved that administering growth hormone alleviated the NASH conditions caused by adult growth hormone deficiency, and treatments of GH and IGF-I were effective when applied to model animals with growth hormone deficiency.”

I've read so much about the Nutrional recommendations for Liver Diseased patients. Yet there are many Doctor's promoting the KETO Diet/Lifestyle for one the same reasons mentioned, HG. In addition, insulin, glucose, and improvements in the endocrine system (hormones). Additional stated findings include, improvement in liver function, cognitive function, metabolic, etc.

I started a Keto Diet and in week 3 I lost four pounds. I was feeling much better until I crashed, extreme fatigue, loss of strength and endurance in the gym. Additionally, I had been experiencing E.D. and when I was into the second week of Keto my E.D. subsided substantially. I was waking up in the middle of the night and in the morning with erections. Something I hadn't experienced in a long time.

I mentioned the KETO diet to my Dr. and he didn't say anything against it. I'm not sure why I crashed, perhaps because I may have been consuming to much red meat, and some of the not so healthy oils. I was even making my own version of Bulletproof (TM) Coffee. I did check for my level of Ketones daily and was consistently in the mild to mid-range.

I'm so confused with so much information about diets and even exercise and the sauna. My Hepatology Clinic had a Registered Dietician. I had a one-hour consultation to discuss lifestyle changes include diet. She printed out multiple documents of foods to consume and to avoid. Her recommendations were inconsistent and different than the Clinic's own brochures for dietary restrictions and recommendations.

If anyone can assist further with this matter, I greatly appreciate it. Does or has anyone, have any knowledge why some Dr.'s are pushing the KETO diet for liver diseased patients?

Thank you for your post and any replies.
