Newby with fatty liver

Hi all

I have just been told I have fatty liver, not due to alcohol but most likely to not eating properly and putting on a bit of weight , nothing extreme but haven’t been to the gym lately and put on over a stone.

So now I have to sort myself out and get back to healthy eating and exercise, quite scared about all this to be honest, I used to enjoy few glasses of wine at the weekend so I guess that’s a no no now too

Any tips on healthy food for liver will be most welcomed thank you

I just received the same diagnosis and I'm scared, too. I have 9 grandchildren and want to be around a little longer to spend time with them. I only about 15 pounds overweight, but I don't really pay any attention to what I eat. I am seeing a specialist next week for a Fibroscan to determine the extent of damage. I am changing my diet to a Mediterranean diet and hopefully that will help.

Hi Ellie,

If you go to my profile and look at replies, you will find one where I split on what I eat during the day.

When being told in January that I had to change things up, I’ve lost 14kg and recently just done bloods again which were all back in normal ranges.

Once you find what works, trust the process and keep taking small steps forward.

Here if you have any other questions.

C.

Thank you

Your post makes me feel more positive

I’m actually looking forward to eating well and I’m glad it’s been found as I can now work on changing things

I will have a look at your menu

Walnuts are full of omega 3's and a good snack. Steamed broccoli with garlic, turmeric and cumin for flavour goes down alright. Cut out all soda and try and try a lot of coffee and green tea
