Pain in rib
Hi , yes i do and ive got a lump that suddenly appeared in that area saturday , got doctors next week , to say im scared is an understatement
Yes I get rib pain that is sore to touch and I also have pain at the very bottom of the sternum, I understand from my rheumatologist that I have Costochondritis, over the years I have found that I cannot tolerate omeprazole, and if I have a sore swollen stomach I get the pain, it is like my stomach is pressing on my ribs. Check your sternum to see if it is sore too, and see your doctor to get this checked out.
It is my husband who has liver issues not me just thought I would reply to you enquiry.
Hope you can get some relief soon.
Yes, it was that pain and digestive issues that led my doctor to order an ultrasound which showed fatty liver even though my "labs were normal". I am researching what steps I can take to stop or slow the progression.
Do you mind if I ask what kind of digestive issues you were having? I've been having issues for years and years and never got any answers from any of the health professionals I saw. I've had a relatively good diet my entire life, and am just so puzzled over my recent fatty liver diagnosis. I'm also wondering if you doctor had any suggestions on what to do from here. Mine didn't even think a follow-up visit was necessary after the ultrasound, even though I had no blood work done.
My doctor told me to lose weight and change my diet. Im fairly good shape so wasn’t sure were i would lose it from , but I dropped 15 lbs. after cutting out bread ,pasta ,rice, cut red meat back to once a week. Lots vegetables and fruit. I have cheat days once in awhile still though. Also no sugar which is hard for me I have always been a big on candy and desert !!
Thank you for sharing your experience and tips. I've been a vegetarian since I was 3 years old and have eaten healthy food my entire life, although looking back now, I probably relied too much on carbs. I've probably had 6 sugary sodas in my entire life and I can say the same for alcohol. Just never liked it. I will say that my sugar consumption went up when I started college courses and ate gummy bears (!) to stay awake while studying. I remember telling my doctor that eating sugar seemed to make the pain worse and he just shrugged his shoulders and told me to avoid eating fat because it was probably gallstones. Turned out it wasn't gallstones at all. Giving up sugar has been harder than I expected, but I am working on it. I really feel as if sugar is my "alcohol"- both in terms of addiction and the impact on my liver. It's just so ironic, because when I was a little girl, I disliked sweets so much that I would refuse offers of bonbons from my grandmother's friends, who would then try to pay me 5 cents to eat one!
Wow, I was going crazy for years with this on and off pain, I think it is Costochondritis as well. Very hard to diagnose I found out. Finally figured it out after breast cancer and had all kinds of tests on my liver etc., before going on chemo. I am an avid fitness person and love lifting heavy stuff like I'm superwomen and it caught up with me-- is what I believe happened to me. At times I stopped drinking alcohol I was so worried it was my liver or my pancreas. Now I just don't drink because I was so damned worried, it wasn't worth it anymore. I do take Tramadol in a very low dose as it helps when it flares up (lifting and crunching too much). But on a daily basis the antidepressant Venlaflaxine (started at 37.5 last year and only up to 75 mg it has a bit of a pain reliever in it and it has saved the day and night for me. It was reccommended by a pharmasist who is also homeopathic and could not get relief any other way. Also Vit D3 helps with pain but you need a higher dose. For some reason I can just take Advil or aleavee for just about any other pain symptom and I am good to go, this pain is worse than all my other surgery issues put together. Good luck and God Bless.
My pain is in my at my lower left rib. I was seen this week by my liver specialist. He said I’ll always have Cirrhosis and platelets will always be low. I also have gallstones and he said if I have a gallstone attack I will have pain on my upper right side. My bilirubin is still low but better than when first diagnosed. Hope your doctor can answer that question. If he doesn’t keep asking until he answers. You’re paying for his/her help. Hope you feel better!
