Hi All,

Anybody know how reliable a fibroscan is? And also what tips can you give me on eating in moderation, once I get going I can't stop myself, it's like I lose control.

Fibroscan is or most value to predict whether a person is likely to have F3 or F4 fibrosis. It has a predictive value of about 85%. No test is perfect and we would prefer to see the mid 90% but it can guide you to next steps in understanding your situation. Very low values are also quite predictive that you don't have significant issues. Like all tests it isn't perfect but it is the best for the money that we have right now. I don't know if this applies to you but a lot of people begin a diet by cutting back on carbs and end up struggling. For many the answer is to increase the amount of monounsaturated fat, such as olive oil, to provide a smoother energy profile that is also easier on the liver. My doctor prescribed 4 tablespoons a day of olive oil and I lost 40 pounds in 18 months without being hungry. Here is a link to our approach to diet.
