I am so glad to find others who need support like me. It's tiring to try to tell family about your symptoms and because you aren't bleeding or unconscious you're treated like you are lazy and making a big deal about your health. So I have read and studied for myself. My care is with the VA and they did a great job until I wasn't losing weight and then they kind of dropped me with a annual check up plan. I was diagnosed in 2014 and it took me till recently to get more of my diet under control myself. An eating disorder was the direct cause of my NASH. I didn't smoke, drink, or use drugs. I didn't have hepatitis C or any other infection. I had just binged on sugar continually for years. I have been experiencing nausea with eating so recently I decided to eat like I would after having a stomach reduction surgery. I am eating pureed vegetables, fruits, and oatmeal. Baby food or canned squash, etc. I have had a great relief from nausea and I am not hungry as the food is organic for babies and has vitamins etc. I still get tired but not as much as before I changed my food intake. I hope this helps someone else. Bless you all.

Thanks KitKat

sugar is a big villain in the development of NASH. It is the fructose, which is 50%, of it that does the real damage. Dumping sugar and alcohol are two of the best things you can do for your liver. For many people a lot of their fatigue is that they don't fuel their bodies correctly. The best energy source for your body and the one easiest on your liver is oleic acid, which is an omega 9 oil, and the best source is extra virgin olive oil. Here are a couple of links that may help you understand some significant ways your body works and give an overview of the eating pattern that we use. Thanks for your input

It is very draining emotionally and mentally to continuously deal with thinking through every bite, drink, food choice, how things combine, getting enough sleep, etc etc and silently worrying how soon am I going to die day in and day out. No, they dont understand and won't unless they face something similar. It is best to be as forgiving as possible so YOU are free to focus on healthy thoughts, healing and coping. This group does help. So glad you have joined us!

I was just telling a friend that the other day, I get so sick of thinking about food all the time, what to eat, when. You describe it perfectly “emotionally draining”.

You may want to check with a gastroenterologist as what you are describing sounds a lot like a gastropathy issue to me. But I do believe you have found the right answer for diet. I know it works for me (but there are times I think I could die for a bacon cheeseburger with green chili - which would kill me).

Sometimes I just want to cry for all the suffering everyone has to go through. What helps me the most are the myriad small things. I can “if only” myself to death, but true friends, family and any project that allows me to help others are truly life changers.

I have enough days and times that I feel worn out, used up, and worthless, helping others even in a small way brings me more joy and happiness than anything else. Surround yourself with positive people and love, help others and appreciate the sunshine (and the rain) it could always be worse. You may not be able to change what already is - but you can change your attitude about it. And believe me, I know, it’s often easier said than done, but worth the effort.

Hang in there.

All my best, always

Good for you! Do what You have to do. Sugar & alcohol the 2 worst things for your liver I believe.. I still drink wine once a week, but really need to give it up. Lost 18 lbs but aiming for 10 more.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts. I'm gardening today to get some exercise. I'm not a workaholic anymore as I get tired but the air today was perfect with peonies blooming.
