Has anyone here been given advice to increase their choline intake to help with fatty liver disease? I have been reading about it from a source I respect, but haven't been able to find anyone who has been given this advice. I am interested to know if it helps, especially for those of us who developed NAFLD without obesity.
You are going down a path that most people take. With that scary diagnosis you want to find out what you can take. As you get educated one thing to keep in mind is that the liver does about 500 jobs. It is the most complicated organ in your body. The interactions are vastly complicated. Logically, there are no miracle foods, super supplements, additives, potions, or cleanses that are going to give you a quick fix. Billions of dollars are being spent on the search for molecules that will cure your disease. The things we know today are that your best bet is a healthy diet. You will find advocates for every conceivable thing you can take but the sum of what we know today is that a primarily plant based diet eliminating saturated fats and sugar will do more for your liver than anything else. This assumes, of course, that your disease is not genetic in some way. Here is a link that can get you started. Research everything, but remember that minimizing the liver's workload is about the best thing you can do.
