My husband was told his liver enzymes were up according to a blood test. Our Dr. said we would keep an eye on this and re-check in 4 mos.

I said no, I wanted to know why liver enzymes were up. I lost my previous husband to liver cancer. So he ordered an ultrasound of liver. The results was a "fatty liver" and he is also pre-diabetic on medication. He was told to stop drinking wine. He was a heavy drinker in the past. He no longer drinks hard liquor or beer, but continues to drink a lot of wine. He is now 80 yrs old. He has done nothing to change diet because of impending diabetes and shows no interest in changing his drinking habits.

Hello delightful

People can drive you crazy with the choices they make. You probably know that high liver enzymes are a sign that liver cells are being damaged by something. Age an alcohol are high on the list of possible culprits. I don't know that there is any advice anyone can give you that would be something you don't already know. We certainly sympathize with the role of caregiver as it is too often a difficult path but you are among friends here.
