Hi everyone, this was in the news this week that IF may be beneficial for reducing BMI and better glycemic control according to the Journal of Clinical Medicine.
I'm fascinated how fasting can be used to help control diabetes as type 2 diabetes is becoming a world health crisis. So to me the more tools we have for fighting obesity and type 2 diabetes is a good thing.
There are related articles listed as well so this may be of interest to some, please see:
Please remember to start fasting well prepared mentally and physically so that it works for you and anyone about to start on a fasting journey you will get lots of support on here.
It is a good article - and the journalist even mentioned insulin, which is the main and first indication of (susceptibility to) most non-communicable diseases.
It is interesting that they say it is best to eat breakfast and skip supper, as I do.
They do not give Michael Mosely credit for inventing "Alternate-Day Modified Fasting".
If we did not agree with the findings we could dismiss it on the grounds that any organisation with a vested interest can pay a University for "research". They selected 12 out of 2814 studies...
Hi S11m, you are right it is great the interest in IF, which obviously has potential and we need to help spread the word. π
Thank you Jerry and very interesting article.
I see they said to eat breakfast which unfortunately I am finding it more difficult to eat in the mornings so have, on a few occasions now, been skipping breakfast and eating lunch, evening meal and having a raw fruit bar with my drink before bed, something which I'm now stopping as I know that's not good for you.
Ironically I've just started a fasting programme today after reading an article in my Simply You magazine which is the September issue. I've also seen a few posts on HU about fasting and have been thinking about it for a while now. I'm following the fast for 16 hours and eat in an 8 hour window.
Thank you for sharing the article Jerry.

Hi Alicia, if your body doesn't like breakfast I'd listen to it and consider your first meal a late breakfast.
Well done for trying a 16 hour fast and if you'd like an IF16 badge then please just say.

Hi Jerry
Its strange as I used to love breakfast before I had the food poisoning back in November and since then I've slowly but surely struggled to eat it.
Thank you Jerry and I think before I had a badge I should keep up with this for a period of time. I'll let you know how I get on.
