Many people think and say if u have diabetes you can no longer fast - that isn't the case. Every individual is different. If your diabetes is in control then when fasting you simply have to adjust your insulin times and dosage. I'm type 1 so I can't fast.
Diabetics CAN fast: Many people think... - Fasting and Furious
Diabetics CAN fast
Thank you SID, It's tough having an autoimmune disease so I feel for you. 😊
Hi, Hidden , Welcome.
Thank you for your input.
I think the "King Corn" and "Big Pharma" lobbies in the US do not anyone to know that Type one diabetes can be cured with LCHF or Keto, and IF!
I lost lots of weight all of a sudden and got all the symptoms so went to my gp who sent to the hospital where I was told I had diabetes. So I dint need to lose weight I need to put it on!
Insulin is the fat storage hormone - so if you produce no insulin - you do not get fat!
Obviously that is the case. Why bring that up then
For those who don’t know they’re Diabetic, they sometimes have weight loss when they aren’t trying to loose the weight. This is just one type of symptom that a doctor can use to diagnose a person as Diabetic. I’m type 1 and I have to use two different types of insulin (1 long acting/short acting) along with a low carb high protein diet plan for keeping the blood sugars even through the day and evening hours. I’m not allowed to fast ( even for a blood drawing).
Urs is the same case as mine
Thank you for saying this. Be careful when (and if) you’re trying to fast.😀
Are you eating a low carb high protein diet plan? Did your doctor say it was a good idea?
Thank you… most people can fast, but contra-indications are important.
¿You could put on too much weight in Type One if you took too much insulin?
No. Weight gain is what you have happen when your food and blood sugars along with insulin work too much. The weight loss is what you have when the blood sugars are too high for long periods of time ( months/weeks).
Check out the free leaflets on the DRWF website. They can be downloaded/read/listened to anytime. Go to: drwf.org.uk/understanding-d... They also have information about type 1, 2 and PreDiabetes on the site.
I hope this helps.😀👍
Thanks for the explanation Leah it is most helpful as diabetes like all autoimmune diseases is much more complex than we often realise. 👍 😀
You’re welcome and good morning!😀
