Hi all, I'm hoping someone can offer some kind of help. My 4 nearly 5(dec) son has suffered with constipation all his life, he didn't have a first poo until nearly 30hrs after he was born. The main problems he suffers is his stomach doesn't seem to push anything through. So he'll eat anything bloat massively be in loads of pain I'll have the physically massage and push the air/poo down through his belly to help him do some farts but he never seems to get a good poo out.
He's been on Movicol for over 2 years with no checkup from his Dr's no matter how much I chase and his current Dr's has refused to try a stimulant even after mentioning the duty of care I'd seen on the Eric website. We've been admitted into the PAU on a couple of occasions for fecal impaction and he's ended up having to have enemas to clear him out and still no one will try anything different.
I'm at my wits end and am looking at another hospital visit in the AM as he hasn't done a proper poo for 14 days, he's soiling. Is there anything I can do or ask for at the hospital? Some test he may need? Anything at all, this is really starting to affect his mental health ðŸ˜

to clarify; whilst this video states that the end stage of a disimpaction is when the poo looks like tea or urine, guidance is that when your child has passed ‘rusty water with bits in’ on two occasions, then you know the bowel is clear
Morning, I understand where you are coming from with the dr's the way I got round it with my son was by taking him to the hospital and getting them to refer my son to a gastrointestinal peadtrition. The other thing I did was print information regarding constipation from the ERIC website and told them what they needed to do regarding the guidelines and showed them in black and white. Good luck and i hope you get somewhere soon. 😊
Keep on at your doctors or ask for 2nd opinion my daughter suffered for so long and we tried an assortment of meds until I asked for allergy testing when they finally did something it's not right for him to have to go through all of this hope you get answers
