15 daughter still bedwetting.

Our 15 year old daughter is still bed wetting every single night we had test done ect all came back fine we tried bed wetting alarms waking her up to go a loo medication ect northing seems to work at all she's on oxybutin tablets which as not really worked she's had the odd dry night she won't wear dry nites pj's pants or incontinence nappies getting really fed up with all the washing every day any advice would be appreciated thank you

Personally I'd carry on offering her drynites or the bed mats if she doesn't accept them and continues to wet the bed I'd have her wash her own laundry she'll soon change her mind.

Hi Jason. Sorry to hear this, it sounds like a stressful situation for all. Many teenagers who wet the bed actually describe having to wear nappies every night as the worst part of their condition. In fact, not wanting to wear nappies is one of many normal reactions a 15 year old might have when experiencing bedwetting. However - many parents and carers describe having to cope with the washing day in and day out as the one of the most stressful parts of their child's condition.

It sounds like the real villain of the piece is the bedwetting condition itself. So, would you like to call our Helpline for some information and support? Sometimes GP's don't explain this but some teenagers will wet the bed because of a number of different causes which means they need the help of a couple of treatments - not just one - to resolve their bedwetting. We might also be able to give you a few practical suggestions for managing the bedwetting in the best way for all of you and we will listen to you, because we do understand how difficult this situation can be.

You might find Desmopressin + oxybutin is needed (or other combination of drugs) we have had the same situation on desmopressin and nothing worked until they got the oxybutin as well. But then it was as if by magic, and such a huge relief for everyone. This was at about the same age. They needed medication for a couple of years, but after that nothing, they grew out of it. Try to be patient, washing is a pain but obviously the whole thing is also awful for her. Wearing drynites at that age is humiliating for her, but also they really dont prevent needing to wash everything. Personally I think its hormonally linked, we really tried everything and thought it would never end. But it did.

Get onto and hassle the GP for further medication, is there an incontinence service in your area?

Have you tried offering her any of the bladder weakness pants from always or tena lady?I was buying the always boutique ones from my granddaughter for a short while when she whent through a stint of not wanting to wear her drynight to bed.

The always ones where about as absorbent as a drynight, so not really enough for the entire night but they helped with the transition from drynites to incontinence nappies.

Did you have any luck getting her to wear appropriate protection to bed?Or still dealing with wet sheets every morning?
