Movicol dose

Hi

I would like to do a clear out over half term for my 8 year old son. His problems are not getting any better with constant soiling , and his regular movicol/water intake is not effective (he’s had this problem since he was a baby and we are under a consultant). It’s been a while since we’ve done one... can someone tell me the daily doses of movicol to disimpact an 8 year old?

Thanks!

To disimpact an 8 year old, the maximum dose per day is 12 sachets. You work up to this dose and remain there until you reach rusty water looking poo, it's best to stay there for a few days once you have achieved rusty water looking poo to ensure that they're completely clear. Then reduce the doses down very very slowly, one sachet every 3 days until you reach a suitable maintenance dose to stay on.

Hey just reading comments here. My daughter is only4 and her maximum sachet was 14 a day ! This isn’t on the guide but my doctor told me to go as far as it was possible for her to disimpact.
