Movicol after disimpaction dose

I've read different things but does anyone know what dose of movicol you should use after disimpaction regime - do you go down gradually or straight to a maintenance dose & just adjust from there?

We went down to 2 a day after disimpaction then 1 week later went down to 1 a day as she was still too loose. The dose depends on the child, it’s supposed to be enough so they do a soft poo once a day if possible...

Reduce it by 1/2 to 1 sachet every 2 days. It can take 36 hr to show, and maintaining doses vary from half a sachet to 2 sachets a day (or more!) so you reduce until they are making soft stools but not too runny.

My daughter was scared so we kept hers on a Bristol 5 for ages (fluffy mousse/mr whippy) it does no harm. Then we reduced it more recently and she now does soft sausages. Dr reckons she will be on it 6 months more and we can reduce it more.

We were advised by two different doctors to move straight to the maintenance dose which in our case was two sachets a day. We’ve recently up-ed it to three which is producing type 4/5 poos a couple of times a day.

We followed the Eric advice

(Scroll to bottom for doses, for maintenance)

As our doctor seemed vague about how much he should be taking.

We found it took a while to get the maintenance dose right. As mentioned each child is different. It took a while but landed on 2 sachets a day. It’s working for us. I have no intention to stop anytime soon. Good luck x
