UTI ~ its a bit hard to explain

I'd like to start this off with the fact that I already made a post about a UTI i had several months ago. Unfortunately, i still have that same UTI. I've taken 3 courses of anti biotics to treat it, but i still have it.

My GP asked for me to come in for a urine + blood test if my 3rd course still didnt rid of my uti. But for some reason my mum isnt letting me call my gp back to book an appointment or even for another deck of anti biotics.

in fact, ive asked her since end of July, since thats when i took my last course. But she's denied every single request since.

Now, ive recently been tested positive for covid and i have to self isolate, meaning i cant call my gp or anything, despite the fact ive shown a few kidney infection symptoms, i dont know what comes first,

Im really just asking for any advice or anything i can do whilst im self isolating, and what i should do after, and maybe even possibly to convince my mum to call my GP back, since my symptoms are worsening again.

Thanks to anyone reading this

14, why?

Because you are minor and I am not comfortable in giving advice to a child. Hopefully someone else can help you.

I mean,no offence but how does being a minor change anything? Im simply askin for advice because myown family dont take my condition seriously

Non offence taken, but I would not feel comfortable giving a minor advice, it is not my place to tell you what your parents should be doing and conversing with a minor is not appropriate.

Hi Reelok. Even at 14 you can contact your GP yourself if you wish. You could email the GP. The surgery website should have contact details. You are under 16 so your parent would be informed but you can seek medical advice.

This is a tough one. You are in a tough spot. What I would suggest is talking to your mum and see if she will explain why. The next thing is very personal, so I hope you'll forgive me. The one thing I have to ask is why it keeps coming back. (Don't answer) The first thing to be suspect is your hygiene practices and whether, when you have a bowel movement that you are wiping from front to back? (Again, don't answer.) That applies to both whether you are wiping after a pee or poo. FYI, in case you don't already know this, UTI's are far more common in girls because of the difference in anatomy. The bottom line is that the opening of your urethra (pee hole to some) is much closer to your rectum. This is why the direction you wipe is so important. If it hasn't been done, you may need to have someone look into this further. Are you having the often typical symptoms of a UTI, frequent urination, pain or burning when you pee? When you do pee, is it a lot? How about when you don't have a UTI? There could be other problems with your urinary system and maybe more has to be looked at. I'm just throwing out ideas here, maybe much of this has already looked at. Talk to your mum again and see what she thinks about getting a fresh perspective with a different doctor. Now, the most personal thing I'm going to mention about this is with your periods.

I don't know or will I ask is if you have started your periods yet. I won't ask questions here, but just give you some info on other possible reasons.

Sanitary napkins: A general guideline is changing them twice a day or more if the flow is heavy. Try changing every 4-8 hours to see if that helps

Tampons: Regardless of whether it needs to be changed, tampons should NEVER be left in for more than 8 hours because of the risk of toxic shock syndrome. From what I understand, they can lead to flare-ups in uti's.

Menstrual, or Moon cups: They could, like diaphragms, lead to problems with being able to completely empty your bladder.

Lastly, if you are starting to experience flank pain, between the bottom of your rib cage , your waist and towards the back, fever , possibly abdominal pain and fever tell your mum right away. These could be symptoms of infection travelling to the kidneys. This is serious.

I' am an older guy, but I do understand some of this. I don't want you to answer any questions that you are uncomfortable answering, but at least some response, at least to know what you think about it would be nice. Thanks .
