So we did disimpaction following the guidance here; we got to brown water with bits in consistency on day 7, so 8 sachets. We then went down to 3 sachets as a maintenance dose, and poos were still runny, although much more formed than previously and far fewer (we had been dealing with up to 10 or so poos/smears a day prior to disimpaction). We gave it a week, then moved to two, but it’s now another week later and the last few days we are back to lots of small smeary poos. Does this mean we’re back to having a blockage and this is leakage? As I’m pretty sure we disimpacted properly… we are still in nappies - is this part of the problem? Thanks for any advice.

He’s just over 3 and a half (but going to school in September so was really hoping we could potty train soon, which is feeling impossible right now). We followed the ERIC parents guide, so after 3 watery poos we went down to the maintenance dose of 3 (as it was the first day of 8 sachets and the poo was watery from first thing). I feel like we need to go back to the GP, as I just can’t see any other advice about this on the ERIC website…
Sounds like you reduced down too quickly. We found staying at the maximum dose for a few days once reached watery stools was far more successful. Also reducing down slowly by one dose every few days was much more effective as it was a better way to establish the best maintenance dose.
