Hi my son is 11 soon and has never been dry. He has some development delay and has a small AND overactive bladder. He’s been on des melts and is now on lyrinel XL which haven’t made a bit of difference, we’ve been on laxido, movicol and senna and still wet. His next follow up isn’t til September! Any tips?
He’s very behind with his learning abilities also it’s my belief there are underlying learning difficulties but how do I get the quacks to believe me 😔 heart breaks
For him

I've heard accounts of people removing foods like gluten, dairy, soy, corn etc, and then they stopped bed wetting. Just wondering if he tried anything like that.
Is he drinking enough during the day? the key to desomelts working effectively is liquid intake during the day? How much does he drink? dairy can be a contributing factor to nighttime wetting. try to get him to go to the toilet twice before bed and ensure that he empties fully. As he has never been dry, request a referral to your continence team, they should be able to help more and ask for a referral to a urologist to rule out any underlying issues.
He’s been going to the bowl and bladder clinics since he was 5 also been assessed at 7 years to find out he has the learning abilities of that of a 5 year old. I’m going to change his diet this week
Something to try is removing anything berry flavoured from his diet especially juice as this can irritate the bladder and bowel we were advised to try this with my 3.5 year old and he is now dry all the time!
